It was pouring rain, and mama was gone again. This time Foxglove decided that she would find her and let her know exactly how she felt about these absences. What she did not count on, however, was just how difficult it was to track another wolf. She knew some scent trails were newer than others, but the rain had muddled them all, and how was she to know which one was the right one?

And there were other scents, the further she went. Unfamiliar scents. Foxglove turned more and more hesitant as she picked her way across the borders of Swiftcurrent Creek, staring all around with wide nervous eyes. She didn't think mama had come this way. Suddenly she wasn't sure where this way was at all.
