Greatwater Lake hush

crickets hop and dance in unison as ibrahim, through tall stalks, chases them underneath a bright red sun. he yips at them, still too young to understand the jumping blobs instead relying on instinct's instruction that anything that runs from him is just a toy to play fetch with.

it's a wonderful dream, one that keeps the potbellied ogre at bay until something prods at him. pushes him around, and in his sleep ibrahim kicks the disturber of his dream, mumbled growls and whines to vocalize his protests. only after one final firm push does the boy get up on his feet, though not without growling at the closest thing near him, which happened to be aiman. angered that his brother gets to sleep for just a second longer, ibrahim unleashes an attack on his brother's ear — any tiredness he had was abandoned as soon as he'd found a target.
