Candle called to her kin as she parted from the ravine, carrying the few things they would bring with them. It pained her to leave this place behind — but the safety of her children mattered far more. The ones who lived now; the ones who were yet to come. So the priestess did not look back.

She did, however, look for her mate; her children; S'ari. They would follow, she knew, all of them, and this was a small comfort. She would lose none of her family, for now.
