Firefly Glen Mercy has a price

The snow had begun to fall, and Hakumele was growing tired, hungry, dehydrated. He felt as though his search had taken him in circles, and a part of him blamed Hokulani. He knew the joy she would derive from seeing him in this state.

He pushed these thoughts aside. She could be cruel, yes, but it felt wrong to imagine her as sadistic, no matter how often she proved such a trait. It would kill her mother.

The wind howling in his ears, the man felt as though his head was spinning. Lowering himself to the ground on shaky legs he found himself on his side after barely a moment.  But he couldn't stop, not now. His mind demanded that he stand, and yet his body would not listen.

Eyes rolling up, he found that the world in front of him faded from his grasp.
