She hesitated at his words, confusion flickering across her face. Wake? Who else could he possibly be referring to? Silence settled between them as she turned the question over in her mind, searching for an answer that refused to reveal itself.

Lestan… what do you mean? Her voice was soft, uncertain. I… I don’t think I follow.

Her silver eyes met his, earnest and searching, brimming with the need to understand. She wanted to make sense of his words, to reassure him, to be right. Of course, we’re his companions… aren’t we? There was no doubt in her tone, only the raw sincerity of someone who had never questioned such a thing.

She didn’t notice his attempt to brush past the subject, too caught up in her own thoughts. But the mention of a hunt sparked an eager shift in her demeanor. Her ears perked, eyes bright with sudden enthusiasm.

I am rather hungry, she admitted, the weight of confusion already slipping from her mind. And stretching our legs after escaping the mountains sounds wonderful. What do you think?
