Larksong Grotto what gods win, what you lose

eyes devour voraciously the sight of the soothsayer pressing blood-soaked paws to the mother’s brow. he thinks he might choke upon the suffocating air; sacrifice and smoke, and the gods pulsating voices chanting.
the mother collapses, bile slipping from her agape jaw. the gods are here now. they have taken hold. he does not look away. ulfric feels the thrum of them in his blood, his ears pulling up high, eyes widening in awe.
when aspa turns to him, he gives a single nod.
he steps forward, paws sinking into the blood-slick earth as he lowers beside the stag. his teeth bite through the hide, stripping flesh, flaying hide. when the skin is freed, he rises again, and moves to wrap the woman in the hide.
careful when he lifts her, and even more careful as he begins the return to her peak.
