Moonstone Quarry [*] The move

There it was—the Quarry. And it was theirs… hers.

It was home.

Tears welled in her eyes. She belonged here—she could feel it. Deep in her bones stirred the warmth Solharr had placed there, and it called to this place of stone and earth. For too long, she had felt adrift, lost in a sea without direction. But this place—this place was solid. Unmoving. Resilient. A place to drop anchor.

No sooner had Solharr spoken the words to make this their home that her feet moved, as if with purpose of their own. She slipped past the others, offering each a brief smile, hoping that one day she’d know their names and hear their stories.

But for now, she did as Solharr had asked, a soft smile sent his way as she passed him. She made herself at home—and danced as if the gods themselves had sent their songs to her on the winds. Her own song rose into the air, a plea to be heard and accepted by the gods. 

The sun would soon rise in full, and life would begin.
