Sunshine was warm- it was like finding the perfect spot in a snuggle puddle with her family, but without the chance of being elbowed or pushed out of the sweet spot by one of her siblings or worse- catching a whiff of one of their sleep-farts.
Any invitation to go outside in the sunshine was a welcome one. She didn’t begrudge having supervision at all- not when she loved her parents so dearly. She knew nothing of danger, or why it was important to stay within sight- but she also had no interest in pushing boundaries, not yet.
Not when she had a nice patch of dry, flat, sandy earth that had been warmed all morning, and no trees above to cast shade over her. She uttered happy little noises as she circled and then flopped onto the ground, laying still for moment to absorb the warmth from the dry earth. She rolled and wriggled, coating her fur in a layer of dust, and stretched out on her back, sticking her back legs out and curling her front paws to her chest (looking somewhat like a thawed turkey) and tilted her head back so the sun wouldn’t be in her eyes.
Smacking her lips with satisfaction, she felt the warm sun on her belly and shuddered, happily.
