The question did not surprise her; nor did the searching gaze, or the quiet desperation woven beneath them like threads unraveling in silence.
Hemera held her olive eyes, gentle and unwavering; like the dawn brushing against the shadowed curve of night. When she finally spoke, it was not with grandeur or pride, but the cadence of one who had whispered her name in prayer long before she’d ever claimed it aloud.
„They call me Hemera,” she said, voice soft as spring rain. „Copila luminii.” A pause then; „But I am only what the Lord wills me to be.” She dipped her head faintly, not as submission, but as reverence. There was power in knowing who you served. And in that moment, she offered not just a name, but a glimpse into a faith that had never left her, even when all else had.
„And if you have wandered far from Him,” she added, almost a whisper, „know that He has not wandered far from you.”
