Duskfire Glacier The moon cuts a path

As soon as the white woman herded them within reach of her, Tikigâk was upon one. She was the sweeping scythe over the field to be harvested—the thing did not even have the time to react. In a spray of snow and stone Tikigâk had burst forth, gripping the thing between her teeth and giving a mighty shake that would swiftly break the neck of the animal. 

Meanwhile, the maneuver had effectively caused the other to seek to adjust its course as the woman had hoped, slowing it down for a beat—long enough for her packmate to do what must be done. Tikigâk doubted the woman needed any aid from here in the felling of the fox, but offered aid anyway should Nanook look her way in request of it.
