talvani moved through the dense, familiar underbrush, her eyes sharp and calculating as she ventured farther from the lands she once called home. the weight of her lineage, both lanzadoii and muradoii, burned in her blood, but it did not anchor her—no, she was free now, unbound by old names and distant ties. the future, her future, had arrived with the winds that guided her to meleys, to the journey ahead.
her eyes drifted to the distant shape of the caribou herd, the magnificent creatures standing tall in the horizon, their antlers a crown to the earth beneath them. she breathed in deeply, the scent of them filling her lungs, and for a fleeting moment, she thought of the shadow of her past life. her family, the blood that ran thick through her veins, and how they had shaped the woman she had become. but none of that mattered anymore. it was the caribou, the land, the future of her pack that mattered now.
talvani's gaze flicked over to meleys as she trudged forward, the weariness in her steps not lost on her. she had seen this before, the exhaustion of the journey taking its toll, but the prize—caribou—would give them what they needed. meleys, though, was tired. and talvani couldn’t help but feel a pang of sympathy, knowing the weight of this move was not one borne lightly.
