talvani’s gaze hardened as she regarded meleys, the foreign bride, whose words lingered in the air like a cold draft. she had never trusted this woman, nor the ways she brought with her. the grace and charm of a life too different from their own made talvani uneasy, the foreign scent of her unsettling in a place that was meant to be home.
she shifted slightly, her stance telling as much of her discomfort as her silence did. i know nothing of her. talvani replied carefully, voice low and measured. i do not think she speaks the language of caribou.
there was an unspoken edge to her words—an implication that meleys’s presence here, her union with sun eater, was not something talvani would accept easily. she... talvani paused, her voice soft but laced with something cold, time will tell if she truly understands what it means to belong here.
