Odessia immediately flattened to the ground, her ears splayed and her tail tucked tightly beneath her as she tried to make herself look as small as possible. She did not make eye contact, deciding it was better to stare at the dark feet in front of her. The fur reminded her of Viper, and she thought better of it, closing her eyes tightly and licking her lips, willing the other wolf to go away. In her chest, her heart beat rapidly.
"Where's Akavir?" the voice demanded.
Odessia had never heard the name. A soft whine escaped her throat, and she shook her head ever-so-slightly. Her chin never left the presumed safety of the ground. Would this woman attack her as Viper had attacked Etienne? Would she kill her? These were the thoughts that wormed their way into Odessia's mind as—once again—she replayed the events in her head, her closed eyes amplifying the memory.
