The tone of the stranger's voice was less than friendly, and Odessia did not even believe the friendly ones anymore. How could she trust anyone after what had happened with Viper and Tattered Ear? She had thought Viper to be a friend—hell, a servant—only to find that he was completely off his rocker. She still could not reason why he had gone after Etienne like that. True, she had not known him long, but why?
There was the name again, Akavir. Odessia did not know it any more than she knew—wait—maybe that was Tattered Ear's true name? Odessia could not remember. She only remembered his ears and the way blood had spilled from Viper when Tattered Ear's teeth had clamped down on his throat. The blue-eyed wolf swallowed hard. She did not think her voice would come, but she could lead this svart to Tattered Ear and possibly Etienne. Maybe the latter would be able to talk to her.
Odessia gestured for the dark stranger to follow and began to lead her to the place where she had last seen Etienne and Tattered Ear.
