a week had passed. the nearly constant feed of the two girls upon the seal, with its rich milk, ensured survival at the expense of some weakness—for while fat was necessary to a growing body so was the protection of colostrum, the benefit of nutrients found typically with the mother. these children received some, but not all that they required. processing that much fat proved difficult on this girl's under-developed and thusly sensitive system, so that she required constant watching to keep her clean.

@Sobeille had made the effort to get that seal, and it paid off. the little girl was not as ambulatory as one might expect a week-old child to be, but given that she hadn't been intending to grace the world for at least a fortnight, concessions could be made. burrowed next to @Panik, Runa wanted for nothing.
