Keshi had been right; the southlands were rich with prey of all shapes and sizes. Galathiel caught the scent of mice, rabbits, and deer as he strode beneath the boughs of old, gnarled trees. But that was not what he was after.
The Knight knelt besides a fresh pile of elk droppings, nostrils flaring as he breathed in the scent of the beast. It was large, by the size of the dung pile. Far above his head, scars had been carved into the bark where antlers had scraped the lichen living there. A stag.
His tail twitched in anticipation, shoulders rolling as he began to follow the trail through the underbrush. A prize of this magnitude was worth scouting for at least, even if he could not fell it alone. Galathiel half-hoped a soul would join him.
