He frowns when she talks about her aunt’s theory, his heart sinking a little when she confirms she’s mated. Ah, well. Maybe now Bushtit can focus on the upcoming festitivites, pulling all the details out of her so he can start spreading them around the wilds.

His head rears back when Journey offers to introduce him to her mate (at least, that’s how he understands it), then in the very same breath, asks if his father’s single. Bushtit blinks at her, a little knit appearing in his youthful brow.

Before he can think of how to respond, she sends up a little howl. Is she summoning her mate to come meet him? Bushtit pushes to his feet, wiping his damp forepaws in the dry grass. He guesses all the questions will have to remain unanswered, because he’s not sticking around for this.
