That was more like it. Sienna inclined her head. She was getting quite good at this bargaining thing, or so she thought.

More or less, she said with a disaffected shrug. My mothers taught me a few things. She might not be their true daughter, but she had still been raised by witches. A fact that she was not eager to advertise, as yet, but a she-wolf who knew a few ways to clean a wound wasn’t that unusual. Probably.

The striking purple flowers that carpeted the ground wouldn’t be of any use that Sienna knew, unfortunately. She sniffed at one cautiously, and moved on to looking for any sign of a bright yellow dandelion, or at the broad leaves of a plantain.

First you should wash that blood off before something sniffs us out, Sienna added. There any water here?

Saltwater would be best, but Sienna couldn’t smell a hint of salt, so that was pointless. The dry, gravelly earth didn’t look well irrigated, but maybe the stranger knew where they might find a pond. Or a least a creek.
