His return of greeting, the way his eyes lit, and the way his body went rigid as he scented her was fuel—and her body revved, a single step placed forward. Sheer willpower stopped her as a soft, inward growl left her.

His offer to leave and return would surely be helpful, but even she warred with herself on what to answer. She felt bold, brave, and terrified in his presence. Then, surprised at the smoke incensed words that left her.

What would make me more comfortable is something I cannot—will not—allow myself to have. Head tilted, predatory in nature, as she eyed him. Her toes threatened to curl, eyes dancing as they noticed the way his chest rose and fell.I do not wish for you to go—heat or not. I was hoping you would come and visit. 

Head shaking the smoke free, her lips curled softly in a smile, a shade of disappointment in its wake But, if you must, I understand whole heartedly. I am sure my current state calls to you as nature dictates. 

Most males would jump at the opportunity and she would have had to fight them off—many times with tooth and nail if that was what was needed. Rodyn held back, and she appreciated the effort. His soul felt safe—beautifully so.

Her ears perked at his invitation. It would be good for the pack to socialize, trade—and it was a chance to see him again. Consider this our acceptance of the invite. 

A bit of shyness snuck onto her features as curiosity begged her to ask something vital. 

Will you have family there? A wife—or a husband—any children? I’m sorry, she paused to let loose an embarrassed chuckle, I’m being nosey.
