The Sentinels There once was a village

She giggled away her embarrassment. Like it? That’s quite an understatement—I love it. She bent to pick it up, careful not to scratch the surfaces with her sharp teeth. Turning, she placed it on the nearest moss bed, hoping it will stay safe there until it moves to its new spot inside her den. A place where she could always see it and be reminded of…a certain kind soul.

She turned back to the male, her tail waving gently. The smoke that had settled in her eyes had turned into something softer, more polished. 

Her voice small, but steady. Thank you…truly. I have never been gifted something so…perfect. And with a little more shyness now, a little less sure of herself, her words dropping just slightly, I won’t keep you from your route any longer—but, Rodyn? Come see me, again? This— she gestured to herself, —is obviously not forever, and I’d like to…see you outside of business. If—if you want, of course.
