Hokulani shrugged at the suggestion. She hadn't considered that in a long time. I'd still need a man to have kids, probably. I've met a few women who could get the job done. The stranger was probably right, that finding the kind of good man she wanted would be tough. Especially when Hokulani wasn't exactly the spitting image of a blissful marriage herself. It's why I wish I could just go home, really. My entire pack's culture is based on shame - men who don't care for women they got pregnant don't get a second chance. A bit of an exaggeration, really. It wasn't all shame.. just a lot of shame. Maybe that's why I want to bring it here, I'd be great at shaming them!

Hokulani couldn't help snickering at her own comments. Probably not a great pitch for the pack she's pulling together, though.
