After weeks of conversations with packmates, suggestions from his mother and outspoken members, and his own private deliberations, Kemal had made up his mind. He would marry any woman who gave birth to his children.  Nobody would ever be as perfect has his true wife, but Narin was gone.

Verapaz did not need him to be in love, nor would it wait for his grief to pass. The pack needed growth, and the loyalty that a strong leader's children could bring. What would be the season for most women was swiftly approaching, and while he had no intention of seeking it out he would not hesitate to plant himself for the good of the pack.

It would not be properly announced, that felt too strange, but he would mention it in conversation and let the news pass through the pack naturally. He knew how quickly gossip could spread in Verapaz, it would take on a life of it's own.

Once it got out, then the decision had been made: woman who bore his children would be married to him, and promoted to the role of countess.
