nowkē’s grin flares wide at the warning — too wide, too eager for what follows! most pups would tuck their tail. most would second-guess. but this boy?

this boy was raised by skorpa.

the instant miska lunges, nowkē does as well. long legs snap into motion, the bearskin slipping off one shoulder as he whips sideways to avoid the brunt of the strike. teeth catching only the edge of fur at his flank as he skids through loose earth, kicking up dust and pebbles in his wake.

his laughter bursts out bright and arrogant, echoing off the stone.

hah! too slow!

he pivots sharply, weight thrown forward, tail flagging high in a reckless arc. the adolescent charges right back at the older wolf with all the graceless confidence of boyhood, jaws snapping for any hold.
