Astier watched Luhtar vanish into the grey, the silence finally reclaiming the bypass. He didn't blink at the giant’s parting shot; warnings of pride were lost on a man who had already survived its fall. He turned to Morwenna then, his silver gaze tracking the shift in her stance. The fragility had vanished, replaced by a cold, regal clarity.

„Morwenna,” he acknowledged, the name a short, sharp note. „A generous assessment. I merely find that noise makes for a poor hunting ground.”

He didn't bother to correct her on his motives. Let her believe he was a guardian; it was a cleaner story than the truth. „Drama is the tax one pays for being seen,” he added dryly, his gaze already drifting toward the ridge where the scent of sea lavender lingered. „I have already paid more than I intended today. I suggest you find your own silence before the next giant wanders through.”

The Wraith offered a singular, curt nod, not a greeting, but a dismissal, and began to move, his paws already seeking the path toward the edge where his ghost was waiting.
