Swiftcurrent Creek break the chains

Hopefully someone Kaskara hasn't met yet! :) Maybe @Kaede or @Nefarious? :D

Her duties as beta weren't much different from her duties as a regular member, though she did make it a point to patrol the borders more often, adding her scent to her brother's whenever she felt his was becoming weak. After fighting off the intruding wolves with Saber, Kaskara had taken a more diligent approach to her patrols. Once in the morning and again at night, she would take a sweep of the borders, and mark them afresh.

Rolling her shoulders as she walked along the creek, she felt the sore muscles move and remembered the fierceness of the wolves she had fought. She would need to find Scimitar and discuss seriously consider training up some of the newer members in combat. They didn't need to be caught unawares during winter, especially now that food was scarce and it was beginning to show, since even lone wolves were attacking them.

Kas paused at the creek's edge, looking over the land, wondering if she should attempt to fish in the cold waters today, or if she should try to hunt traditional prey. Either way, she didn't know if she would be successful, but at this point her gnawing stomach was nearly numb to the emptiness.
