Somnia was taking a walk when she heard the howl. It stopped her in her tracks, the sound of her heartbeat filling her ears as a special accompaniment to Peregrine's news. How could Amon be dead? Just over a week ago he had been climbing up one of the slopes with her, engaging in pleasant chatter. He had fallen near the end, but it didn't look to be too serious.
