That very thought had crossed his mind only seconds ago, but coming from Finley's mouth it was suddenly unacceptable. He wouldn't. He couldn't. Not over this. Not in the middle of winter -- did she care if he survived?

There was no way that Peregrine and Fox would stand behind her. Was there? He was doubting everything, but he reminded himself that this was Finley. She was bluffing. She had to be.
