[size=small]The impact, even if it had been intended, had not really been expected by the Maera -- who as soon as she felt her teeth meet the female's body, had an innate reaction to bite down. It was not hard enough to draw blood, but perhaps enough to surprise the Amazon as much as Maera. Then as Manauia's feet gave in under her weight, the Sveijarn jerked herself ungracefully from what would have resulted in a messy tangle of feet and legs.

But even if she had avoided that, it was not guaranteed she would be able to avoud what was up next. With her tail straightening out behind her and her ears swivelling mysteriously she prepared for whatever the Amazon would do to retaliate.
This was a lesson not a war -- she couldn't hurt her for real, right?
