Finally. Frostfire Ridge was his ...it was theirs. It had not been an effort made alone, and it was very true that without them it would not have been happened. After finishing up marking the borders — a painstaking task that had eaten up nearly all of Tezcacoatl's day, the Rekker strode towards the Ridge's heart, seeking a place that was adequate enough to become where they would convene for meetings and pack activities that required it. The heat of the day had been pressing and had caused him to pause often and seek the cooler shade and to make sure that he kept hydrated which had cost him the most time; it hadn't even really been the physical marking itself, though that was not to be mistaken going over what already existed had been long and arduous. He found a temporary spot, though after a quick assessment wasn't sure if it suited them. Regardless, he did not mean to summon them to him, but to celebrate and to announce their presence to those within hearing range that they were there. That they were official — a statement and a warning all in one.
He paced the length of the small clearing the Ridge's woodland provided once, before he lifted his muzzle heavenward and let out his victory call into the velveteen dusk sky, encouraging his subordinates to add their voices to his.
he came and stole the wild
a crime so old as the sky and bone

Tezcacoatl howled.
That was it. Her fate had been sealed and she would forever be left to rot upon this mountain of terrible soil and insufferable earth. She sighed, staring at her crude garden where no plant had yet taken root. This was her life now. A healer without a wealth of herbs and of all things a King. She shivered at the thought. It was so... unnatural. All of this. And yet... her sisters had decided and she was left to continue as if it were the natural order of things.
She bristled at the thought, but duty and obligation brought her to her feet. She lifted her head back and added her voice to the sound of her once prince, now King. She shivered again.

The call rose and she lifted her head, ears listening. So it was official then. Nochtli wasn't sure how she felt about that but kept those opinions to herself. No one knew them and no one would know them. Thank god no one here could read minds, especially not Shoebox.
Rising from her spot in her and Citali's den, the dark female left the interior and found a spot to sit and listen to the rise of not only Tezca's voice but Cita's too. Well then that was that. If the medic was staying then so was she. Her voice rose in tandem with the two others', sealing their fate. They were no longer wolves of Coatl's Rise but Frostfire Ridge.
Only time would reveal as to whether or not this was a good thing.

When Tezcacoatl called, Mana was just about to cross the borders, her mind on a herd she'd been tracking. Her ears swiveled and she paused, stock still, lips turning down and lifting slightly. She considered a long moment, at first fully intending to remain scornfully silent. Enabling him in what she saw as pure cowardice was hypocrisy at its worst, but at length, she knew she had little choice in the matter. Sometimes the mission required time, patience, and other things the warrior was awful with. But a true warrior did not run from ghosts or fears - they faced them with jaws open. Tezca had fallen in her eyes, perhaps irreparably. He did not deserve his mother's esteem. Damn them all for a mother's biased eye.
Finally, grimacing, she lifted her head and sang out, belatedly joining the call. She would need to converse with Xiuhcoatl, and soon. A seed that had taken root within her needed reckoning, though whether to sprout or struck down had yet to be determined.

A late sunset cast long shadows across the ridge, the waning moon already high in the dim sky, as another summer day came to an end. However, it was also the beginning of something new. Tuwawi walked alone that evening, her mind heavy, but when Tyr's call rang in the air she knew opportunity was at her door. The ember still felt burdened by her ghosts, but was unwilling to be their prisoner a moment longer.
One howl rang, and then another. Tuwawi joined their chorus, tipping back her saffron crown to officially pledge her allegiance to Frostfire Ridge in the hope that this future would burn bright.
