Her pace was a brisk lope, though her focus was elsewhere. Accepted within the ranks of of the Vale, Vega had taken little time to simply make herself at home. Familiarizing herself with the land was her first task at paw, and if she stumbled upon a fellow pack mate, then perhaps she would be able to glean more information from them as well.
The clouds above blocked the potential of the sun's warmth, but for the moment, the she-wolf did not mind. Her figure weaved with a casual grace through the many pine trees and every so often she would stop to rub her shoulder across one leisurely — claiming the scent of the Vale as of that of her own, for she now belonged among them and did not want any others to mistake that.
There was something different to the air now though, and inhaling sharply, Vega knew spring was just around the corner. It brought her solace, and her thoughts trailed to her birth pack briefly. They would be preparing for a litter soon, and in turn, was the main cause for her dispersal.
Simply watching the world go by would no longer satisfy her.

Resigning to the fact that her attempts had been futile, she surrendered to duty and began her patrols. Working first through the interior of the pines, she wove through their towering spires then branched out towards the mountain’s base, following the course of a quiet stream. And it was along this path that she came upon a scent only minutely familiar on the bark of a tree. Her ears swiveled forward as she released a short beckon, calling forth the wolf to make themselves known. |
