Teeth grated against the head of a bone; Lecter tightened the grip of his maw until the ivory cracked and the marrow was released. This he licked from the eggshell-white of the raccoon femur. He had narrowly managed to catch the wily little creature, almost losing it when it turned on him in a hateful, hissing flurry of spiked fur and wild eyes. But evidence of his triumph was littered 'round his new encampment with the sort of pride only displayed by a madman.

The entrails of the hapless beast lay coiled nearby, discarded for the elements and carrion-eaters; tufts of fur were strewn across the ground; a single eye complete with bloody viscera had rolled into the shadow of a berry-bush, staring balefully up into the bright shafts of sunlight.

And blood had splashed in death's own design across the shaman's face, pulsing belatedly from a jugular raggedly torn by Lecter's teeth. It had poured down his muzzle, dripping onto lips frozen in a mocking grin — his forelegs wore a cloak of crimson, as did the guard hairs along his spine and withers.

It has been too long since I was clothed for you, Sos, he muttered to his God, climbing to paws that still ached from his journey. In the past days, Lecter had fashioned himself a home along the lakeshore, out of a shallow cave he had stumbled upon by pure luck, and toward this ramshackle new hut he slowly traversed, pausing only to lift his eyes unto the sky and wince with chagrin at the absence of the Dark Bear.

Two Face

Enjoying his new position as Windwalker Two Face treated any opportunity to journey out of the plateau like a fat deer and leaped at it. He enjoyed his new home and was thankful to Koontz for inviting him to join the Dragonwatcher. But he was still slightly uncomfortable staying in one place for very long.

The sun felt good against Two Face’s skin he closed his eyes and raised his face to the sky opening his senses to the world around him. There were many scents on the wind, but one hit him stronger than any other, there was a fresh kill nearby. Head cocked in the direction the smell was coming from Two Face listened for what was out there killing. The only sound the wind carried in its ephemeral arms was a scraping noise. Two Face turned and Trotted in that direction.

His mind was alive with what he might find when he reached his destination. This is what he loved about being a Windwalker. The adventure, not knowing what he would find waiting just around the river bend. Two Face came upon a line of bushes blocking his view of the other side, but he heard someone mutter a name ... Sos. Two Face didn’t slow his pace any and continued right through the bushes. On the other side he was instantly paralyzed by what he saw. There was a wolf covered in blood some fresh some dried and crusted on his off white fur. Two Face took a few steps towards this new wolf but was hit by a powerful smell of rotten blood and decided it best to stay where he was. ”Hello, I’m Two Face Windwalker of the Dragonwatchers, do you require aid?”

Circling over head Remy soared lazily he was called to this spot by promise of a bit of carrion, but all he found when he arrived was a stinky wolf who was to Remy's dismay very much alive. The smelly wolf seemed to be squaring off with a racoon which Remy found odd. he had never seen a wolf have this much trouble with a forest critter. perhaps there was a reason the off white wolf reeked of death. Perhaps Remy would get to feast on wolf today after all. gliding down to a nearby tree Remy landed on a branch with out so much as a creak.

Remy's heart sank as he watched the stinky wolf over come the racoon. Though he couldn't stop his mouth from watering as the wolf tore in to the racoons body, pieces flying in every direction from the feeding frenzy. It was a comforting thought knowing he wouldn't go hungry tonight.

The stinky off white berserker began to walk away from his fresh kill pausing only to bask in the suns rays. Remy was ready to take flight and help himself to the feast that the stinky one had left behind when a brown runt came running out of the bushes. Annoyed Remy ruffled his feathers and sat where he was. He would have to wait a bit longer to fill his stomach but at least he would have some entertainment before dinner, and who knows maybe wolf would be back on the menu.

He was shaken from his reverie — Lecter had forgotten he was heading for his hut — by a youthful voice. His head swiveled 'round, icewater eyes coming to rest with baleful scorn on the one who had spoken. He was young, this wolf, full of cheeriness and intent to help this seemingly bloodied madman standing inexplicably in a shaft of sunlight.

Lecter grinned.

Aid? he mocked, turning to face the earthen-hued little fool. If you can bring back the darkness, I suppose I will be indebted to you. The shaman's eyes narrowed. But I doubt that you can do such a thing. Stupid creature. Lecter appraised the boy with the flat glitter of madness in his iced glare, and found that it was the youth's very demeanour that annoyed him so greatly.

The hackles along his shoulder prickling beneath their blanket of gore, the pale madman sneered, yellowed teeth flashing in a grin that was all but pleasant. So innocent, with the stink of birth still matted into your fur. Get away from me, from this place, lest you find yourself quite unable to return to your ... dragon-seers, or whatever fool name you have given yourself.

Two Face

He was taken aback by the venomous tone used by the off white wolf; Two Face had never been insulted just for trying to help someone. And to top it all off the wolf didn’t even offer up his name. Two Face had been on his own for a long time, but even he didn’t forget common courtesies. The only thing that he could assume was that this foul smelling wolf was senile or just plain mad emotionally and mentally.

Two Face didn’t want to start off on a bad foot so he thought he might attempt to still render the rude old wolf what help he could, In the hopes that his generosity in the face of such boorishness might sweeten this old man’s mood. ”I myself prefer the day light, but you don’t need to worry about any one helping you bring the dark back it does that on its own ….. light dark light dark, it is just a big long cycle” Two Face fixed the white wolf with a quizzical expression ”Didn’t you know that?” Feeling good about being the bigger wolf and attempting to still work a friendship out of this strange off white stranger made Two Face’s heart smile. He felt like he was doing the Windwalker name honor by working on building relations with another wolf.

”Oh and by the way you accidentally said it wrong, we are the Dragonwatchers not the dragon-seers.” Two Faces tail began to sway left to right ”That’s ok though at least you got the dragon part correct, and like I said My name is Two Face What’s yours?” A twinkle of playfulness danced in Two Faces light hearted expression as he locked gazes with the off white wolf. ” I guess I could call you bloody coat, Or I did hear you saying Sos earlier I guess that could work also if you like”

As the child babbled, Lecter's eyes grew infinitesimally cooler, the corner of one lip creeping up to expose the tip of a yellowed ivory in a harsh sneer. He did not take kindly to being mocked, though he took a far duller shine to being taunted, as this boy intended now.

Bloody coat? Sos? Lecter's teeth flashed in a ragged snarl. Do not presume to speak that name again, ignorant child, the madman spat, legs leaden with hatred as he approached the young wolf. It had been too long since Sos had spoken to him, too long since he had seen a single element of the home he had left behind. Even now, even as he had created a home along this lake and attempted to resume life as he understood it, Lecter was unhappy. And now came this putrid creature, the culmination of all he loathed in his kind, and anger blossomed in his icewater eyes.

And so the former Shearwater shaman lunged, muscles aching with disuse, and yet he was consumed by rage and desperation. Perhaps if he again raised an altar to Sos, dashed wolf's blood across the rock — perhaps then again would the Dark One bless him.

Two Face

The stinky old codger still had venomous words to spit at Two Face. Insulting him once he could forgive but this was the second time. Diplomat or not his pride would not allow him to take the constant verbal attacks the old man threw at him. Two Face was about to speak up when the old man began to approach him with a dangerous glare in his eye. With fangs bared Two Face shouted at the miser. ” Hey, You didn’t even introduce yourself! Stay where you are you foul smelling galoot”

The old wolf ignored Two Face’s warning and continued to advance. Two Face was no stranger to a fight, and unable to back down from a challenge he stood his ground. Where the old wolves eyes held ice his held fire, tensing his body for whatever happened next Two Face let out a warning growl one last chance for the bloody old man to walk away from this.

Two Face was shocked by the old wolf’s attitude, but at least he had come up with a name for this stranger. ”you know, don’t worry about telling me your name I made up one for you. Bloody Galoot … how do you like it?” A smile began to crack Two Face’s stony expression, but it was interrupted by Bloody Galoot’s sudden lunge. Two Face dodged the sudden attack, had it come from a healthier wolf even prepared as he was Two Face may not have been able to dodge it. Old, slow, and crazy, perhaps it’s time for the retirement cave?” Two Face lunged at Bloody Galoots left front shoulder, he didn’t look for fights but no one would fault him for savoring this experience.

The child simply would not shut his muzzle. Lecter fully intended to shut it for him, perhaps permanently. As his attack was dodged, the shaman dug his calloused paws into the earth, halting himself from sailing past the other and taking the brunt of teeth to his unprotected back or spine. He pivoted, a scant moment before long white fangs sliced through blood-encrusted pelt into flesh below.

His jaw tightening, choking back the involuntary cry of pain that threatened to rise, Lecter set himself and attempted to wrench away from the other. At the same time, his own muzzle parted in a bloodthirsty snarl, snaking toward the juncture of neck and shoulder upon his opponent; a slash given there would be agonizing. It was pure momentary heat that lent the old madman his strength; inexperienced as the pup was, he had the advantage of speed and youth on his side.

But Lecter did not intend to lose this skirmish.

Two Face

Tongue tingling from the blood that gushed from Bloody Galoot’s shoulder Two Face fought to stay in control of his state of mind, but the blood pushed the reason from his mind as if it were a tree in a hurricane. Mind blinded by the blood fog Two Face failed to notice Bloody Galoot’s counter strike, he attempted to move away from the crotchety old wolf but wasn’t quick enough. Two Face yelped as the other wolfs dirty fangs slipped in to his flesh he could feel infection leave Bloody Galoots soiled fangs and nest in the fresh wound.

Every inch of Two Face’s being screamed at him to pull away from the wolfs vice like grip, but he fought back that urge not wanting to leave behind huge chunks of flesh from this engagement Two Face chose a different path. Claws leaving deep furrows in the earth Two Face Pushed forward and rushed at the stinky white wolf with all the strength he could muster. With any luck he would cause Stinky Galoot to lose his footing. It was a gamble not knowing who would wind up on top when they reached the ground, but desperate times called for desperate measures.

The boy's inexperience showed plainly; for all his quickness and the razor's-edge of his glistening white teeth, despite Lecter's sickness and the weight of his age, it was not an even match. And yet, even as he sent a snarl of victory ripping through the teeth that clenched the boy's flesh, the younger of the two combatants leant into his attack. Forced to release or break his teeth against the incoming grate of fang against bone, the pale madman wrenched away from his attacker.

He would not give the child the satisfaction of gloating, however — he struck, snakelike, rearing his body with a mighty show of will, and caught the boy's left ear between his teeth.

But his impetus left him weak, too weak to tear the lobe from the insolent body as he had planned. Lecter stumbled, grinding the thin flesh between his yellowed teeth but for a moment before he sent his body in a leftward direction, intending to put space betwixt himself and the insipid child.

Two Face

Bloody Galoot recovered from Two Face’s charge quicker than he would have liked, and worst of all the bloody wolf bit at his ear just to add insult to injury. Two Face turned and snapped at the old wolf as he danced out of his range. Pride screaming at him to get revenge Two Face glared at his enemy. He wanted to force his body to move forward and continue the assault, to at least score one more good blow on the old man, but he knew that would be a foolish move injured as he was the odds of winning the fight without a fatal injury were low.

Two Face growled at the old wolf ”I’m done with you and your stupid imaginary friend, apparently you are as good at first contacts as you are at bathing.” Two Face moved around Bloody Galoot never taking his eyes off the hostile wolf, just in case he decided to launch in to another unprovoked attack. ” You made an enemy today stinky.” Two Face kicked dirt at Bloody Galoots face. ”We will settle this at another time old man!” Two Face ran as quickly as his legs would carry him, he kept looking back to see if Bloody Galoot was following him. This loss didn’t sit well with Two Face the next time he ran in to the stinky white wolf there would be no words.

The return snap of the young beast closed on air; Lecter managed to jerk backward in anticipation, and his sides heaved, icewater eyes baleful as the boy spat out his foolish words and raced away. Swallowing what blood remained between his lips, the madman sank to his haunches, seeking to catch his breath before he too, made his way toward home. It would not bode well for the wounded, aged male to remain where he had skirmished with a packwolf; such a decision would be stupid, and more than likely fatal, as well.

He departed, only the disturbed dust and a few tufts of bloody fur to mark where he had sought to press an insolent youth into submission.
