All Welcome
A child of the Welch family was never unguarded. They were precious. Rare. Valuable. Like treasures sealed in a cave. So why in god’s name would someone leave Blackberry Welch, the most beautiful treasure of all, unguarded in a land of strangers?

It was supposed to be a fast business trip of sorts. Blackberry was accompanied by the best ambassadors of the court, hand picked by her father himself. No one would ever imagine her being left alone. But here she was. For whatever reason, the princess was left without her knights.

She waited for a bit, thinking that they had only went on a hunting trip. The sun fell on the first day, then the second, and there was still no sign of them. And when that sun rose on the third day she began to panic.

Blackberry stumbled through the woods like a newborn deer. She was unsure of what to do now. Part of her wanted to sit and wait longer, for she too had not expected this. But another part, a small, dormant part in her gut, told her to take action. She just didn’t know how to go about it.

'EEEEEELLO 'ELLO 'ELLO

Man, being a baby-sitter was kinda...boring sometimes. While her siblings were getting bigger and more mobile by the day, they were still nothing more than fat, unintelligible potatoes and while Deshyr was more than happy to help out where she could, she also had a limited amount of patience and lacked the ability to stay in one spot for too long. The newest litter just couldn't keep up with the boundless energy of a near-yearling yet, and required far too many naps for the girl's liking.

So DJ helped in other ways, such as tracking and noting herd movements and gathering herbs for their stores.

Today had her continuing to follow a trail she had been pursuing for a few days now that had led her out of the Hollow's territory and north into the Taiga. She had no intention of bringing one of the ungulates of the herd down (despite dearly wanting to), seeking only to learn of their movements before reporting back to her father and Treason. It was always good to keep an eye on the herds, she was learning.

The scents left behind by them led the girl into a dense, bustling forest, where her hunt was momentarily sidetracked by a new, peculiar smell. This one was not of prey, but of wolf, and Deshyr redirected her course until she could pick up on the sound of soft but bumbling footfalls. Her own long, growing legs didn't lend her much grace as of yet, but she was slightly quieter in her approach as she spied the shock of creamy white in amongst the trees. "Hey!" she called out, lengthening her stride to catch up to the other girl.

She nearly jumped out of her skin when she heard someone call out to her. Oh it must be one of her escorts, it must! She spun around and nearly galloped towards the voice. Soon she be reunited with her guards and they would be on there way. But it was only a girl.

And suddenly Blackberry became hyperaware of the overeagerness she had displayed. They yearling’s face warmed and she she dipped her head in embarrassment. “Do forgive me.” Her voice was as soft as a guilty child. “I believed you were someone else.

They reached each other in no time, what with Deshyr's enthusiasm to meet someone new and the other girl's seeming willingness to do the same. She broke out into a wide, eager grin as she slowed to a trot just before the other, before it was quickly replaced with a look of confusion as she spoke. Oh. She was...embarrassed?

"Oh, sorry!" she said with a pang of guilt for being the cause of the girl's bashfulness, before inquiring with a tilt of her head, "are you looking for someone?" She was kind of pretty in a simple, unassuming sort of way; all soft features and quiet, melodic words. Deshyr snuck a glance down and shuffled her own muddied feet, feeling mildly self-concious.

her eyes slowly turn up. maybe this girl knew the whereabouts of the escorts. the chances were small. this world held many faces in it and you tend to forget most of the names. but there’s always an exception to everything. some faces leave a mark on you, whether it’s good or bad. hopefully the ambassadors left their mark.

yes, i am.” her head still hung low, but she could see the girl through her peripheral. “they’re two young men with gray coats. one has a scar near his eye, you can’t miss it. i don’t suppose you’ve seen them?

Deshyr shook her head in response, though her mind briefly flit to Terance at the mention of a grey coat and a scar. But she was quite sure the leader didn't have a young charge who was looking for him — at least, not that she knew of. "I haven't, I'm sorry!" she replied, genuinely worried for the other. She seemed shy, scared even. "I can help you look for them, though!"

So she did, but it was to no avail. As the day grew later, DJ yearned to return home, and so reluctantly parted ways with the lost stranger, hoping she found the two men she was looking for.
