Welcome to any of my existing pack members, anyone who wants to meet Santi, or someone looking for a hunting thread! ;)
Santi wanted to venture off for a bit, just to explore and contemplate his life; as one does. He finds himself walking the dusty, flatlands of Shy Deer Steppes. His end goal: to hunt one of these infamous shy deer he’s heard so much of, but never actually seen. He’s sure he can accomplish doing it on his own with some sweat and hard work of course. Then so be it. Though he’s not sure why he didn’t ask Serem or Clarence to accompany him, he shrugs internally at the unintentional bout of forgetfulness.
His black fur shines beautifully from the gleam of the sun that beats down on him. The weather isn’t necessarily hot, though he knows when the hunt begins and he starts running around he’ll be panting. His muscles shift beneath, while heavy paws carry him and blow up dust behind him. The male sidles through the desert he’s found himself so fond of, looking for his prized possession to bring home to the family. Yes, he plans on dragging an entire deer across the desert. Just call him dad of the year.
Then just a pinch of something in the distance catches his attention. Sometime later, the object is only a hair closer, but now he can see those tall, slender legs so well known of deer and the such. His head is level with his body as he sidles ever closer, not really in a rush, one must take time in a good hunt. Those ivory eyes of his never leaving the animal and his teeth gleam as his usual smirk lightly contorts his maw. So the hunt begins.

Far south from where he had made his new home was a land that reminded him of his birthplace. The land reddened and the grasses disappearing as the sand absorbed it. Small bushes took the place as the main form of vegetation. He felt comforted that a part of his homeland was here, immediately adapting back to the warm sands and bright sun. He lopes through the steppe, his gait calm and bouncy, simply enjoying the warmth in the chill of spring.
He wasn't surprised to see that there was another wolf here; the land was still relatively cold and the sun was intense enough to warm a body, but gentle enough that it wasn't scorching. His eyes followed the wolf's gaze, seeing the antelope off in the distance. He chuffed, low enough that the deer would not hear, but hopefully enough that the wolf would know who he was. A hunt, then!

Santi seems to have tunnel vision when he’s so intently focused on something. It happened when he was in the ring. His only focus was whoever he had to kill, when the battle was over with the two legs had trouble separating him from the body. In conclusion, he needs to pay more attention to his surroundings. So the fact that he didn’t see the other wolf just a bit away makes Santi wonder if he is mentally sound.
First ruined ears swivel and he hears the low sound. He lets his eyes drift off to the male that greets him casually. His pelt is of chocolate browns and even a pinch of slate gray that he can see. The bright eyes of burnt umber that reflect beautifully as the sun bounces off of them. The male stares back at Santi and Santi back at him.
He noticed the male eyeing the deer, he seems like he means no harm so perhaps Santi could have fun hunting with a partner. So Santi grins, a twinkle of mischief in those ghostly eyes of his. He tilts his chin up in the direction of the deer, trying to suggest the other male head to the other side of the deer. While Santi does this he makes his way to the left so they can surround it.

The male was large, larger than Haoniyao currently was. The front half of his body was black, paling into white on his back half. Most interesting to Haoniyao was that he had no tail. He wondered what kind of accident allowed that to happen.
Without a word spoken between them a plan was devised: splitting apart and taking the antelope on both sides. Haoniyao had the advantage of speed in this match-up, but stamina was much more important with these creatures. He broke off and began walking towards the antelope, keeping his pace slow and casual.

Stalking toward the long legged animal, Santiago’s head is level with his body as he takes up a slow gait to get closer just a bit faster. He await for the other male to be a good distance away and on the other side of the gazelle looking thing and he positions his body, ready to pounce. And pounce he does as his body sprints into action running straight for the animal hoping to herd it towards his new companion.

Pronghorns were tricky to catch. They were prey often reserved for the more experienced members of the tribe, but Yao had been privy to hunts before. Strategy was the important thing here, and trapping the antelope in a pincer was perhaps the best option — spooking the creature into running into one of their jaws. Of course, this was all assuming the pronghorn didn't bolt forward instead of towards Yao.
Yao maneuvered himself away from the antelope, trying his best to seem uninterested in the creature as he sidled away. He looked at the antelope and his hunting companion from the side of his eyes, glancing every once and a while until the man charged. Yao paused, waiting for the shy deer to get closer.

Hunt Roll
The animals spindly legs work in overtime as it tries its damnedest to run from the monochromatic wolf. He’s not too far behind it when he veers slightly to the left to herd it closer to the chocolate male. Successfully, the thing seems to be going where he wants it to. The shy deer runs and it’s way faster than Santi, he’s having a hard time staying close to it as he works his muscles and feels his bones ache.
Though thankfully it’s going better than he expected. Now Santi just needs the other wolf to intercept it just a little bit. To slow it down a pinch to where he can’t grab ahold of a leg or anything and the hunt is as good as done.

Rolled for successful grab/its location in discord
The pronghorn, unwittingly, is going with their wishes. His hunting partner is wearied, flagging as he chases the antelope towards them. Yao knows that he has to time things right if he wishes to catch the creature — they were always fast things. He charges at the antelope, closing the distance between them, putting on as much speed as he can manage before the antelope can turn away. His teeth snags into the antelope's neck, the sudden snag twisting the ungulate mid-run. He feels the creature falling, limbs tripping over themselves, his limbs intermingling, until they're both on the ground, a dust cloud rising.

Awesome! I’d call that a grab then! I don’t think anymore rolls are necessary. ;)
Santiago watches with an intensity one could only find enthralling as the scene plays out in slow motion before him. The deer running towards the other and those dangerous looking jaws clamping down on its throat. Impressive. Is all Santi thinks as he continues to sprint up to the dusk cloud. Things are hazy for a second but dodging the kicking limbs of their prey he latches onto the muscled flank of its hind leg. If the others grip fails he wants to make sure they’d be able to catch it quickly again.
His teeth puncture the shy deer’s flesh and the taste of blood instantly blossoms onto his tongue. He crunches his jaws together and the muscles of his body ripple when he plants his paws to give a vigorous shake of his head. Kicking up more dust, Santi begins pulling back whereas the chocolate wolf pulls away. The monochromatic wolf shakes his head and the tear of flesh is almost audible as blood spews horribly from the animals neck and leg. That’s what Santi would call a successful hunt.

had to wrap up schooling sorry! @Santiago Arcos
He is dazed for a moment when he and the pronghorn collided. He is surprised that he managed to hold on to flesh at all, and even more surprised that he didn't break his neck in the tumble. He removed himself, stumbling and blinking and shaking his head.
He isn't out of the hunt for very long. He immediately jumps back in as soon as he gets his bearings. He leaps on the pliant creature, holding it down as best he can as his hunting partner releases a stream of blood from the prey's vitals. He steps back as the pronghorn twitches through its final deaths throes, panting heavily as he looked between his prey and his hunting partner.

You’re good! I suspected so, that’s why I never archived. ;)
Blackened tongue lolling out the side of his mouth he stands there proudly and pants. Eyes looking down at the animal as it attempts to seize the last bit of life its hanging onto. His emotions relating mercy are mediocre at best, so he feels no need to put it out of its misery; it will die soon anyhow.
Though finally taking into account the other that made the hunt much easier, he gazes upon the chocolate male in approval.
“Good job, hermano.” He praises roughly, still panting slightly. “Feel free to take your fair share. I plan on dragging whatever you don’t want back to my pack.”

He prefers cleaner kills, but he didn't want to risk being hit by the flailing ungulate's limbs. It was always a risk when they died, clean kill or not. Their limbs, in death, gained undue strength. He stepped away, panting lightly as his body relaxed.
He knew the term. Living down south by the border, he had interacted with wolves speaking the Spanish tongue before outside of his enclave. It comforted him to have this little sliver of home brought before him. He nodded back in understanding, still a bit sore from his tumble. He eyed the carcass, wondering which part he would take. It would be too far for Neverwinter, but a little would be enough to tide him over for a while. When he regained some of his breath again, he spoke.

Inspecting the kill, Santi expects the other to rip off a few limbs, which is fine with him. The male helped him bag the kill anyhow, might as well repay him with food. Wouldn’t be very cash-money of him to steal the whole kill.
Ah the question of which pack he’s from Santi chuckles. “Nightwalkers.” He says confidently. “And you? Are you an ally to the pack?”

His eyes linger once more on the legs of his prey. He again aims for one of the hindlegs, admiring the strength found there in that part of the body. He grips the thin part, the foreleg in his teeth.
Neverwinter Forest,he says between gritted teeth, unaware of the bad blood between the Nightwalkers and his own pack. The name disquieted him nonetheless, making him think of washirikina na walozi. He begins to tear the leg off, pulling it from its torso.

Santiago chuckles briefly. “Okay, not bad then.” He comments back, eyes following him as he grabs ahold of the shy deers leg. “I haven’t been in the pack long enough to know what happened for sure. I just heard there’s some tension between the two.” He says almost in question. “Know anything about that?”
May 14, 2020, 01:13 PM
He jerks, pulling the leg back and forth to tear the muscle and ligaments there. He pauses, blinking at the dark wolf.
No,In fact, no one had told him anything about the politics concerning his pack. He didn't know much about who their allies were, who their enemies were. He should ask.
I would hope that we call a truce now,He chuckled, pulling once more. The leg was hanging by a thread now.

At the males optimistic outlook on the whole ordeal Santi believes he would be okay with a truce between the two packs. Even though he has no clue what even happened. Perhaps he’ll question Serem or Vanity when he gets back, maybe bother them with insistent questions about what happened. Yet, Santi has no history with this man and there has no bad blood, especially after his assistance in taking down a meal for his pack–at the small cost of giving him some. It was a good deal for the both of them he decides.
He the leg is mostly torn off, he chuckles at the others own laugh. “I agree. Wonder what happened.” He says out loud, the second part mostly to himself. “It was nice meeting you then...” he searches for a name to call him, realizing that he never got one.
Then he laughs once more, a loud boisterous sound. “I’m Santiago. You are?”

With one final tug, the pronghorn's leg comes free, Yao staggering back a bit with the last effort.
Haoniyao,he says with a grunt, the limb dangling in his maw. He couldn't speak his language well with his mouth full, so his instinct to say a formal farewell is stifled. He nods, then trots off, back to his newfound home.

Thanks for the hunting thread! ;>
The, not so strange, stranger finally pulls the leg from the body. Ligaments tearing and separating. The males reply to him is muffled but audible. Santi grins and nods back curtly. It was a pleasant time meeting and hunting with him perhaps Santiago will come across him once more another day and hopefully on good circumstances.
With that, Santi watches him leave and begins the long trek of dragging the rest of the body back to his pack.
