This thread is for my Chronicler Trade.

Chaska sat outside of his den, thinking over his trade as he stared at the clouds. The most recent story he had thought of had an interesting morale. But he hadn't told anyone of it, and he needed to know id it was well. There were two others in the pack he had not told a story to: @Ryuu and @Zhavvi. Perhaps one would come, and he could tell them a story.

Since this takes after Zhavvi's and Fitz's thread I am going with her future name! :3 (I will change her name after that thread ended!)

Zaria perked her ears up at the sound of a howl. She hadn't really left the alpha den ever since she found her family left her. It was better this way. Now she had a new name and she didn't look back. She still had to tell the others but it was nice to be in her own little bubble. But now Chaska wanted her presence and she might as well give it to her. A soft hum came from her. Feeling, different.

She trotted up to her pack mate, her step was light and opened up. She wasn't stalking into the shadows. "Chaska," she greeted with a nod and stood before him. "Chaska... Zhavvi no more Zhavvi," she explained. "Zhavvi names Zaria now," he told him and raised her head proudly. She was still vain and full of pride.

Chaska kept his eyes up, even though he smelt the scent of another nearby. He knew that the scent belonged to Zhavvi. Only when she spoke did he lower his head so his eyes met hers. But he did not stand, and stayed on his rump. He bowed his head after she finished. And he was surprised by what she had said. He understood perfectly; her name was no longer Zhavvi. The reason for this, he did not know. But he would not ask.

"Well then, Zaria, may I interest you with a story? I need someone to lend an ear, and I wouldn't mind if it were yours." He hoped she would want to hear it, for it was the only reason he had come out. Otherwise he would be waiting in his den for someone to call.

Zaria sat down and moved her green eyes to the wolf before her. She frowned lightly trying to understand what he was saying. She tipped her head for a moment. The female was not good with sayings just yet. Why would Chaska want her ear?!!! That was very... weird to say? Maybe she understood it wrong. "Why ear?," she asked, looking slightly disturbed even though she was usually the crazy one with all the poisons.

"Story? Oh. Ear listen story?," she spoke with a hunt of a question. She sat down and nodded. "Simple, please," she added, since if the male was going to use words like that then Zaria had no way of understand the gist of the story.

Chaska regretted his choice of his words, recalling that this wolf was knew to his language. She must have been thinking he was a bit on the weird side, and he mentally kicked himself, but Zaria soon saw what he meant. That was good, because he didn't want things to be weird.

"Okay" he replied to her request. Then, he began, facing the clouds above.

"In a far away land, a pack lived in a large valley. Their alpha was praised by all of them, and received many travelers. For he could see into the future, or more specifically, how one was to die. Many came to him to seek these visions, in hopes to prevent their deaths. But they always came to an end only days after their visit. None of them could escape their fate." He paused, turning to face the she-wolf with his expression urging a response.

Zaria listened, keen enough to hear a story in this tongue since it could improve her speech. She could understand a lot, and it surprised her. Only forming the sentences was though and pronouncing the words but she had enough time and she was still young. She could learn and this was the perfect opportunity.

The female realized that the other male was talking about an alpha, so that was interesting, and his pack. She wondered if the story was real. She listened and was surprised that the male stopped. She flickered her tail and looked at him expectantly. She wanted to know how he could see how others died? Was he a super wolf? Or did he just say so and make other wolves murder the ones that sought out his wisdom.

She wanted to know. "More," she spoke.

Chaska had a hint of a smile. Zaria was urging him to go on, and that made him happy. It also meant that he had made it simple for her to understand. So he did what she asked for, and continued, but not before taking in a breath.

"But he had a secret. His closest friend and adviser was the only one who ever knew; the deaths were planned. The adviser would give the alpha an idea, and after the victim was told their fate, the adviser would make it a reality. No one ever saw through the lie." Chaska paused to take a breath, then went on. "But one morning, a stray wolf came upon this tribe. And he had a plan of his own. For he had once been a victim, and had survived his given fate. He gathered followers in secret from wolves who had lost their loved ones, and together, they prepared to put an end to the trickster's ways." He stopped there, and glanced at Zaria from the corner of his eye.

Zaria knew it! She totally predicted this. The female was pretty proud of herself she understood the story so well, maybe because it was something that she would do. She already tricked people into taking her poisons so she could find out how to make them work. How mean of her. A sly smile turned on her lips but she quickly turned her attention to listen. The bad guy always had to be defeated, how boring.

Zaria nodded softly and then waiting for him to continue. She wanted to protest to let the trickster win, after all she felt more connected with the trickster instead of the hero of the story, but alas, she wasn't going to interrupt him. She could be very critical. If a wolf knew he would die moments after going to this wolf for advise, then why go there in the first place. Zaria deemed all the wolves in this story stupid. She was definitely taking the story too literal.

Chaska was happy, because she hadn't stopped listening. Though at one point, she had a sly smile. A devious one, and that unsettled him. But he must have imagined it. Why would he see that? She didn't seem like that sort of wolf. He went on, forgetting what he thought he saw.

"The wolf strode through the pack's territory, arriving before the alpha's den. 'I wish to see my fortune' it called into the den, and the alpha answered him with his arrival. He seemed to be proud, looking down upon this outsider. Fortunately, he did not recognize the lone wolf. Without a word, he welcomed him in. He acted kind, but the outsider knew him well. They sat before a low stone in the center of the den, and then the alpha spoke;

'You have come to change your fate. But for that, it is too late. I can tell you what I know, you may not like it though.' The alpha paused, awaiting confirmation. And the outsider gave just that. With that, the alpha began. 'I see...I see...a bridge of sticks, so very thick, across a river, made by a beaver. You walk upon the crossing, and you end up falling. You are swept away, out to the bay.' The alpha finished, then signaled the outsider to leave. And that was all he needed to put his plan into action."

Chaska paused there, knowing it was getting to the end. He played the last verse back through his head, and he seemed to like it. He had always enjoyed things that rhymed. He gave a look that asked for a response on the story he had told so far.

Zaria looked at the male before her and listened to the story. Of course now the hero of the story was going to make sure that the trickster would be eliminated. Zaria technically didn't approve but she wasn't vicious Zhavvi anymore. She was pretty Zaria who was Alphas Fitz bodyguard and she cared for his pack members too. Even though one of them was telling nonsense stories. "Wolfs who go to Trickster are stupid. They knows they dies," she spoke with a light frown. "Wolfs shouldn't go to tricksters." Zaria knew this because she was a trickster and if wolves fell for her tricks then it would end badly with them.

Zaria then focussed her attention back on Chaska. "Whats wolfs going to do?," she asked curiously. Maybe she could learn from this story as a trickster, how to not get tricked herself. Yes that was very smart, she praised herself for that. Plus the wolves that Fitz took under his care were very safe from Zaria. She liked Alphas Fitz and how he wasn't so controlling. She was loyal to him and that meant not be mean to the ones that were in his Khalas.

Chaska was smiling at Zaria's frown. He knew that there would be one who would question his stories. And he would be welcome to it. To him, these statements and ridicules were used to improve things, but only when the right answer is given. Otherwise, it could only get worse get worse.

"You will see" he answered to her curious question. And with that, he continued the last part of the story.

"That night, the lone wolf came to the beaver dam. He felt a presence behind him, and saw another presence across the dam. Both the adviser and the alpha came onto the dam, trapping the lone wolf. But he had a plan. He ran for the alpha and jumped over him. Before either could react, the group the lone wolf had gathered started tearing at the sides of the dam. By the time the tricksters moved, it was too late. And they're fate became the fate they had given to the lone wolf, and were swept out to the bay."

He finished there, and waved a paw to her. "Did you enjoy my fable?" he asked.

Zaria expected the ending and then looked at Chaska after he was done. So the trickster had lost huh. Hmm. Interesting. Zaria could really agree with the fact how the story went but it wasn't her story. She wanted a story where the bad guy won, and what if the bad guy wasn't really be bad guy. "Zaria almost likes," she returned to him in all honestly. Zaria wasn't one to lie and that was made up with brutal honesty.

"Next story should be about bad guy backstory," she then spoke to the grey male. She wanted to know why he was tricking people and killing them. Why be present himself as such. Did he like killing? Did he like to be right? What was his motive. Zaria liked to know, maybe she could use one of those motives for her own... killing.

Thanks for listening!

He was glad she didn't have anything negative, even though she had added the word 'almost' to her rating for it. It was good enough, and he understood. He knew his skill was nowhere near his mother's, so all he could do was practice. he shared a smile with the wolfess, and rolled his head t her suggestion.

"Maybe. Maybe..." he lingered on what to say next, thinking over the suggestion. Maybe he should do that. One day. He had always seen stories as a tale of a hero, but what about one on a villain. He had never heard one like that. His eyes widened as he saw the glory in the idea. "That idea isn't so bad. I will do that next time. Thank you." With that, he turned away from the sky and strolled into his den to rest for the rest of the afternoon.

Welcome! This was fun! I will archive!

Zaria nodded in return and watched as the male seemed to really like her idea. Her green eyes looked pleased, she had him around her paw. If he was starting to think about stories how to justify a villain then Zaria might as well let him do the thinking. Perfect Perfect. The poisonous little flower spoke her goodbyes to her pack mate and went in her own direction. Maybe she should go and visit her old home. They were gone now, maybe she could access her Rhubarb leaves and try to see who was willing to eat them! Oh yes! Perfect!
