The weight of the guilt was too much. Nightmares plagued him, and the fact that he had been paired with nobody only proved that he was unworthy of anybody's attention, let alone love. Goober stood atop the steep, slippery slope, knowing exactly what had to be done. He wasn't fit for this world.

Walking up, Goober had felt riddled with emotions, both good and bad. He had stopped and turned back no less than a dozen times, but he had made it to the top of the waterfall. That was where he stood presently, and a sudden sense of calm washed over him.

He leapt off the edge and into the rushing water, and everything went black.
