All Welcome
Maybe @Qilaq?
Seff had discovered something rather interesting.
It was near the base of an especially gnarled tree, of which species Seff did not know. The late morning sunlight did little to penetrate the branches, something that worried a little boy. Reek had taught him that the sun had a name, and that was Raas. And Raas was watching him, and looked after him. But he could not see Raas, and Raas could not see him. That was bad, wasn't it? But he had fared perfectly well here, even with his mother being late by his side. Seff wasn't completely sure about this Raas, anymore, but the thought was quite a lot to process, and so he quite simply didn't.

Instead, he focused his attention on the interesting thing that had garnered his attention. A hole. But it was quite an interesting hole- one that sloped steeply below the earth, and if he stuck his head down it, he could hear the distant trickle of water. A tunnel, and underground. This ignited the boys personality like never before, for this could lead anywhere. He placed his forepaws on the lip of the hole, scouting his back paws against the earth until he was slowly skidding in, head first. His blue eyes were peeled, ears stuck straight up, as he slowly slid forward. Eventually, only his rump and back legs stuck out as he peered into the darkness, tail whipping back and forth crazily.

*steals* All I can think of is this song: https://youtu.be/o-vGDWTJLsE?t=34

Often times she slept in the tunnels, comforted by the faint trickle of water and the eternal gloom brought by the Web. She had a den of her own close to Meldresi's Keep, but more often than not she travelled outside of it, either in search of herbs or bringing a particular pup home. Said pup thrust his head into the den, very close to where she lay, waking up unusually late.

The witch blinked at the scuffling of dirt, rising to her feet as Seff's familiar pale eyes reflected in her singular gaze. Good morning, Seff. She yawned, stretching. A thought popped up in her head; perhaps she could show him the glowing mushrooms, like her mother did to her and her brothers all those moons ago? He would like that, she thought. Want to see something amazing?

Moon-lady!

Seff's sapphire optics gleamed, as he recognized the pale figure of one who had become, almost, a maternal figure to him. His nervousness about not being with his mother was quick to dissipate when she was near, though he still missed her. He smiled, and skidded the last little bit into the tunnel, trotting forward to meet the woman with the coat of pale ivory. "Good morning, Moon-Lady!" he exclaimed, echoing her words back to her. He liked how she spoke, wanted to learn it to, though it sounded...off with his puppyish accent.

Something amazing? Seff nodded excitedly, tail whipping into the walls of the tunnel behind him. It was beginning to look less like a worm, and more like a tail now, which was spectacular. "Yeah! I wanna see something amazing, moon-lady!" he chirped. Moon-lady, a.k.a. Potema, was really interesting, he'd come to learn. Very cool. A very cool lady.

His excitement and eagerness to explore, though the reason he left his family (what pack had he belonged to anyway?), was contagious. She smiled, the expression backed with true emotion at his energy. Follow me, little Spiderling, She turned and walked deeper into the tunnels, her steps slow to allow him to catch up and remain close to her while she navigated the twists and turns. It was easy to get lost in here; she only knew the landscape from being in them time and time again. These tunnels are part of Mephala's Web, She said softly, hearing her voice echo slightly, Mephala is a goddess. She controls secrets and shadows and darkness and hidden things. She didn't know if the boy was aware of sex (he was rather young, wasn't he?) or murder, but secrets and shadowy things he could at least understand; he was surrounded by them.

She walked until the soft blue glow of the glowworms illuminated a cavernous opening nearby. But there are bright things in her darkness too, She gently nosed the hanging tendrils, giggling girlishly as a familiar wetness dolloped on her nose, the tendril swinging gently.

He followed dutifully at the heels of his mentor, eyes bright as he traversed the tunnels with no hint of fear in his sapphire gaze. Potema spoke of a goddess, one that controlled the darkness and secrets and shady things. Seff found himself intrigued by this fact; he had found that Raas was not, in fact, everywhere. His conversation with Reek had faded from his mind, but he remembered the details well enough.

But Raas was not in the tunnels. Nor in the shadows, the caves, under the thick canopy that blocked out the Daystars light. But this Mephala...she interested the boy. Maybe she too, would watch over him, as Raas was supposed to do. Beside, there were always shadows everywhere, weren't there? The sun didn't shine during the night. All this Seff processed, and decided that he would learn more of this Mephala. The glowing mushrooms amazed him, and he gentle reached up a paw and batted at one, watching it swing as POtema's laughter swirled around him.

"Moon-lady? Can you tell me about...Mephala? Maybe a...story?" he asked, gaze flickering to her quickly before fastening back on the swinging tendril, amazed, but also very intrigued by this Mephala.

She moved through the tendrils of both the glowworms and the mushrooms, watching them swing as she passed. Seff was equally interested in the mushrooms, but her gleeful smile widened as he asked her for a story of Mephala. She hummed in contemplation for a moment; what story to tell? There were many about the goddess, though there were few that were suited to someone of his age.

She spun an edited tale that she had heard when she was young, of the Night Mother — another name for Mephala, she had explained — and who she was: the Webspinner, the Spider Goddess. How she first spoke to those of the mortal plane and enlightened them on the darkness and how to use it to their advantage. She made it brief, but the important parts that explained just who Mephala was (as well as a mortal could understand her) were still in it.

With her story done, the priestess nudged another tendril, watching it swing, waiting for any questions the boy had.

She seemed pleased with his question, and Seff smiled, tail wagging as he waited. The tale she spun, incredible and entrancing, and his eyes grew wide and his expression sober as she spoke. Mephala was awesome. That was the main point he got from the tale, though new information flooded him as he spent a silent moment absorbing it all. The story was too new, to exciting, for him to process it all and ask questions.

But the way the mushrooms glowed, that he wondered off. "Does Mephala make the mushrooms glow? Why don't all mushrooms glow?" he piped up, intrigued by the hanging tendrils. He batted one with a paw, giggling quietly when it swung, waiting to hear Potema's answer.

While lies were a part of her religion, she could not lie about Mephala, not to someone she wanted to convert. How could you spread false truths if you want them to pass on their knowledge? Mephala doesn't have any control over plants, She nosed a glowing fungi, watching it bob underneath her gentle nudge. She cannot tell the plants when and how to grow, that is not her domain. The witch settled onto her haunches, There are other gods, we call them Daedric Princes, and even more beyond that. But, Mephala is the Daedric Prince of Subterfuge, Assassinations and Politics. She is only one of 17, but she is no less powerful than the others, but Daedric Princes only control so much. She hoped it wasn't complicated enough to confuse the boy.

The information was great, and while he understood a great deal of it, he did not understand some of the words she spoke, but that did not concern him. These "Princes" interested him, and he listened with interest. What he gleaned was that different...Daedric princes controlled different things, and one of them controlled the plants. Raas was long forgotten now, a dim religion that held no semblance in his life. But surrounded by tales and stories of the Princes, Mephala, drenched in their lore, the things he learned now would have an lasting effect one him, told when he was young and easily molded into the creature he would become.

He was silent, interested, mind gathering this information. "Can you talk to them? The Princes?" he asked, wondering if such a thing was possible. They sounded godly, he only knowing of such a concept from earlier, faded teachings of Raas.

Sometimes, She had not talked to Mephala herself, but she had seen the witches, sorcerers and priests of Hags' Fen do so. She herself was barely powerful enough to enter the Void on her own, let alone summon Daedra, or even Daedric Princes. As far as she knew, no one could ever summon Sithis, for he was the Void, and you could not summon a whole plane of existance. For weaker summoners, such as myself, there are specific days for summoning, when the Princes are most likely to hear. Mephala's day is the 13th Day of the 10th Moon. She looked at the boy, wondering if she could ever teach him magic. Herbs were one thing, but spellcasting? Would he have the knack for it, being born outside the reaches of Blackfeather Woods? But I have heard of powerful mages that can summon the Princes any time they would like. The Princes' reaction varies, of course.

She paused again, letting the information sink in. But sometimes the Princes can choose to speak to us, without summoning. Such times are rare, and those who are spoken to are either very worthy or the subject of wrath.

He listened carefully, absorbing as much information as he could. He grinned up at her when she finished, entranced, and was silent a moment as he reflected on all that she had told him. Certainly, it was a great deal, but it so entranced the boy that he could cling to her words with ease. His wonder showed in his eyes, but he was but a boy,as and his attention span was one of a child's still.

"cooooool"

a moment later, wonder still in his gaze, he asked sheepishly,
"Moon-lady? I'm hungry."
