With the warming air around them, Bastian was quick to leave behind Asherah and the pups in search of poppies. They bloomed in early spring, he knew, but a sane part of knew that it would be a while yet before any plants grew. Still, it made him feel better to roam rather than be cooped up in the Hinterlands; he barely knew this land, actually.

Eventually the German reached a meadow near a great lake — well, what would be a meadow once the snows finally melted and spring took over. He began his search there, digging through the snow to find any kind of life under the frozen crust.

The arctic white of his fur blends perfectly with his surroundings as Bane navigates his way back to the mountains. Blackfeather Woods' dark figure make the same sharp contrast as ever in the distance with the great expanse of snow that surrounds it, but the ideals which had taken the former Dark Brother back to the dark forest had somewhat changed after his short visit, leaving the arctic beast confused and thoughtful as he tries to decide what to do next.

Something interesting had been forming with Athan and his queer protegee, Bane thought, and for now that was as much -or as little- as he could claim to have, and so his path was set towards them. But there was a bump on that path, one that Bane almost didn't see digging down in the deep snow as he drifted away in thoughts. But the Northern man halted in his tracks before colliding with the stranger and barked an alert of his presence.

He didn't notice the wolf until he was right upon him. The opium-deprived wolf lurched upwards, twitching as he jolted at the chuff, snarling briefly. Passt auf! He hissed, acidic eyes flaring to life as he looked at the wolf who came so near to him. Dirt stained his paws, though it was hard to tell, what with his already muddy paws. He looked up at the Arctic wolf, squinting at his bulky frame. Am I zhat hard to miss?

Weird accent and all, the darker male was kind of a scene altogether. The twitch in his face, the fucked up pronunciation and the obviously distressed demeanor, piled up into the funniest thing Bane had seen that day, and he did not hold back the snort of laughter that it provoked him.

"I was distraught," he said, almost apologetically as he took one step back. "What the hell were you even looking for in there?" he asked with that smirk still painted across his handsome face, pointing at the dug up patch of nothing that the jumpy foreigner had managed to find.

In his agitated and desperate state, Bastian was not one for laughs, especially not for those directed at him. The German doctor growled at the snort that came from the wolf, barely acknowledging his apology. It was only the question that Bastian made any verb response to, and even that was short and curt. He mutters to the man briefly before his nose dips down once more. Poppy seeds,

The strange man was buzzing as though he'd just seen a ghost, knees trembling and voice breaking like a damaged psycho. He was odd, peculiar, but Bane couldn't help but feel intrigued by his existence. "Do they grow in winter?" he asked, just to get some more words in that heavily accented voice. Bane knew nothing about plants, not even poppy seeds which seemed to be the most appetized of medicinal herbs.
