All Welcome

noon had come and gone, and the clouds overhead had drifted, leaving behind a bale blue expanse in which the outlines of barren canopies where etched. luck had been with her that morning, and she'd stumbled across the carcass of some mountain goat, buried beneath torn up snow and earth. the thick scent of cat surround the kill, and the cougar would certainly be back to finish the kill.

but it was unlikely that the seclusive creature would return in the day, and besides, the girl could be fast. moving swiftly, she scraped away the earth and vegetation that was intended to hide away the creature, and began her brief feast at the ravaged abdominal cavity.

Something doesn’t feel right on the mountain he’d chosen to stay on. After the display a few days ago, he isn’t too keen on lingering much longer. Mostly, he wants to make sure he isn’t going to be noticed in his departure. He stays off the mountain, for the most part, but lingers on the borders every so often. Eventually, when his scent has weakened, he’ll take his chances and depart.

Ukko licks his lips as he rounds the border the overlooks the lake, noting a dark form against the pale snow. Curiosity strikes and he turns away from the mountain, getting closer. He notes the smear of red in the snow and the furious digging to get what is beneath. His own stomach encourages him closer and he lashes his tail once, flinging it over his spine and waiting, silently, to be noticed.

she is halfway to sating her empty stomach when the arrival of another is suddenly noticed. she pauses once, hackles prickling as she offers him a once over and considers her options. either herself or the kill has drawn him, and she's fairly sure the later is the culprit. moss green gaze watches him a moment longer before she offers a chuff, acknowledging him and yet making no immediate move to safeguard the meal against him.

He has thinned out over the months as a lone wolf but he’s managed, so far, to take care of himself. Small game takes a lot of energy with little reward, but it has been what keeps him going. And now a meal lay at his feet, enough perhaps to take the edge off, a barrier is between him and what he needs. The last time he fought over a meal, he’d barely slipped away and had nothing to show for it. In his state, he can’t tell if he can take the younger wolf so he lingers for the time being. Her threat is clear, even if she doesn’t seem to protective over the kill.

Ukko licks his lips then, taking a step closer—carefully, slowly—and starts to test the waters.
