When night crept in and the snow began to lightly fall, the pack took shelter among the weeping willow trees nestled along the mountain base. Powder white flakes floated among the gently swaying branches and Durnehviir, instantly smitten with the calm that this territory brought, was eager to beckon @Constantine away to see more of it - a stolen moment for just the two of them.

She meandered gracefully through the unusual trees, deliberately weaving between the flowy branches to feel the caress of their leaves along the length of her spine. She beamed over a slim shoulder at her mate, the grin on her face brightening her pale eyes, and slowed her pace to allow Constantine to fall into place alongside her. "It's beautiful here," the dragoness said softly, bumping her muzzle affectionately to her mate's chin. Durnehviir couldn't believe it had been such a short distance from their home, and she'd missed out on the serenity of it until now.

He had kept her within view for the most part – though the shadowrunner had also allowed her the space she needed when she drifted off. He worried for her and the life that grew in her – after the raid from the sea wolves, any regret of their decision had been washed away instantly..but that did not mean he would wish such an arduous journey on his pregnant mate.

She was more upbeat than he had seen her in weeks though. The excitement of returning to her home had seemed to liven her in a way he had not yet witnessed, revealing to him once more that the two had much to learn from one another. Their pack had followed them with a loyalty that had invigorated him as well – a loyalty he knew he would repay to them in respect and ensuring they grew to the pack they had all originally envisioned. A pack that would not need to flee from their home due to the nature of their neighbours.

He trailed after Durnehviir, his eyes set upon her. Snow gently fell from the air, and he released a soft chuff, wishing the warmth of spring would be upon them fully now, though he had never minded the cold. He simply wished for less hardship upon his pack.

He ducked his muzzle along one of the slender branches of a willow tree, his own gaze drifting over the trees with mild curiosity. As he sidled up alongside his mate, who had slowed her own pace and offered him a nudge, he blinked, looking upon her and offering a small nod. “It is.” His tail gave an idle sway in the air as he considered, his own muzzle dipping down to brush her cheek softly. “You said we’ll be there soon?”

He looked at her with molten eyes, and Durnehviir beamed merrily up at him. Her tail swayed gently at her rear, contentment written across her features in the form of her enthusiastic smile that accompanied the gleam in her pale eyes. Despite their hardship on the coast, despite the bitter cold and the snow, despite the raid on their territory as they prepared to take their leave, the russet Frostfur refused to let anything get in the way of her happiness.

Constantine reached for her, his muzzle caressing the silken ivory of her cheek, and she leaned into the gesture with an affectionate croon. "About halfway," she guessed, eager to maintain her optimism. They could be closer or further, she wasn't entirely sure, but knew that as long as they followed the mountains, they'd find their destination and finally begin the next chapter of their lives. "We'd probably get there faster if your kids weren't so heavy," she teased, poking her nose at her mate's ribs accusingly before she padded forward and away, willing him to explore alongside her with an inviting twitch of her tail-tip.

"If we have boys" she chirped as she went, eager to begin a long-awaited conversation about what they would call their pups, "I'd like to name one of them Viinturuth." Durnehviir doubted he'd object, as her eyes shone with glimmering affection at the thought. He did not, naturally, and together they shared their thoughts of future family as they meandered through the willows.
