All Welcome
Place: Nightcaller Temple
Date: 20th Jan 2019
Context: It's a wolf moon! The first full moon of the year and the perfect time for an offering! Flicker will be making an offering to Peryite with her knowledge of the Lunar Phases.

It was time.
The moon was full high above the skeletal reaches. The sentries cawed at her passing, fluttered through the trees in following. Peryite was sickness herself; requiring a unique offering in return for the safety of her kin. Maegi. A dark bird was in her jaws, plucked from the floor of the forest. Felled, and yet wrong. Not of age, but some internal troubles. The neck of the avian was arched, it's last meal coating it's beak and feathers had lost their shine. She didn't know what sickness befell it, but it was a sickness. And she needed it; sacred or not.

The woman picked her way through the Mire, careful to not get bogged down in the darkness. Making her way to the place Maegi had offered -- Nightcaller temple. The place the pale girl had made an offering too. A shiver trickled down her spine, urging her to pick up the pace towards the temple. The moon hung high above, watching her passage through the thin veil until the clearing. There, it stared at her actions accusingly; again, the skitter of chills ran down her spine.
Was that the presence of Mephala Wintersbane had spoken of? Was the Night Mother watching her?

She approached the dais of feather-light feet. Hardly daring to breathe as she lay the offering on the rock. The stain of Maegi's offering still lay upon it. Bare of snow. She cast her golden gaze around, assessing. Half wondering if something was going to leap out at her. Nothing; not yet.
She turned to look at her offering and wondered what she should say -- if anything at all. Was it rude to bring only one offering?
Wait, why was she concerned about phantom winds?

She took a deep sigh, preparing herself. Trying to rid the feeling of eyes piercing the back of her skull, the heavyweight at her shoulders. "Peryite, this offering is for you," she almost whispered her words, trying not to sink into cowardice. Why did she feel fear? Grow up damn.
"In return, I wish -- no -- I ask you for Maegi Melonii's safe return to these woods."
Silence. It filled the air thick -- thick and hot -- the blood pounding in her ears like thick lava, despite the frigid air. She tilted her eyes upwards, spying the moon high above. Watching, waiting.
But waiting for what?
