All Welcome
Backdated a bit before he returns to SCC!

Underneath the night’s cover, the black and golden boy sits in a nearby clearing. He is never out of Zephyr’s reach, yet in this quiet moment he slips away—unable to sleep with the echoes of demons haunting his mind. He leans his head back, staring at the spread of stars. A breath taken, and released slowly. Even though he feels so alone in these moments, he wonders if anyone in Swiftcurrent Creek is looking at the same sky he is right now.

It was with some dawning realization that she is perhaps the furthest from home than she has ever been. This isn't the first realization of such a thing, but it came upon her like a wave in the depths of this relative unknown. At least this time, it wasn't quite like fighting a rising tide over and over, ever fearing the sensation of drowning and being lost in some unfathomable depth.

Everything is different, Phoebe decided.

She would be different then, too.

Even the spread of the night sky, though not truly that different, somehow seems different. It's clear enough that the moon cast just the right amount of light to illuminate her way, though she is by no means night-blind. The old forest has a history to it that she will possibly never know, and she does not consider it even when her eyes alight on another. Like her, young, but perhaps grown enough; his head craned back, peering through an opening, and she followed his line of sight until her brow furrowed in questioning.

She was feeling bolder now, but perhaps it would come to pass swiftly.

Perhaps this encounter would go better than the rest.

Her voice was gentle and hushed over the din of late summer: "What is it that you see?"

Thank you for joining! <3

He hopes they are, a connection beyond that of blood that courses through them. It is odd to be apart, and he longs to walk in Swiftcurrent Creek’s direction, but Helios remains firm; he would stay by Zephyr’s side. Until—or if—they make the decision to return together, he would be out here.

A voice startles him, and Helios realizes he should be less lost in thoughts and more aware of his surroundings. Fortunately the presence does not seem unfriendly. His amber gaze flickers towards the shadow, and their appearance makes him double-take. Not his family, and one so blended in with the night; her stomach dipped in white while the rest remains an ever sleek black. Helios feels almost jealous.

He does not wear such emotions upon his face, however, and merely glances back towards the sky as if bored.

“The moon,” he pauses, “The stars…”

When he turned, she saw that he was young. Like her, of course, perhaps a touch younger. He wasn't cast of the same die she had come to associate with her elders, like her father or mother. Youth often allowed them the chance to detach from their earthy bounds to dream and Phoebe could not resist offering an apologetic smile for startling him so.

But of course he had been admiring the night sky; she would have been dense to believe otherwise. Yet it had been a reverent study of such a thing that made her wonder if there were more to such pinpricks of light against the darkness.

"What about them?" What about them captured his attention so? Her gaze lifted to look upon them herself, but they made little sense to her. Twinkling, distant things, long gone by the time the sun streaked the sky with a myriad of colorful shades. "You looked like you saw something up there... unless you were thinking. I didn't mean to bother you."

Her gaze leveled off with him again, this time fully apologetic.

no problem! i try to grab open threads when i see them. :)

The answer to her question felt private and personal—intimate enough that Helios is tempted to keep the secret tucked close to his chest instead of unleashing it into the world.

Part of him fears that his thoughts are… foolish, and the last he wants is to be mocked by another. Her words and demeanor are soft, however, reminding him of gentle Polaris. The apologetic nature unlike that of which he’s dealt with thus far, however, and his interest is piqued.

“I was thinking,” he admits. “About how the sky connects everyone. Even if we are apart, the sky is never different, right?” If it is stormy, then it is stormy for everyone—and so forth, in Helios’ belief.
