Mudminnow River Hey Simmons, what's the name of that Mexican lizard, eats all the goats?

He'd left the territory, he was very keenly aware of this and it did make him rather nervous about the whole thing, but he thought he'd found a trail of something edible and at least wanted to try to bring something back to prove himself.  Pike had gone and interrupted a trespasser -- that was hard to beat, especially when Spook wasn't really so keen on getting up in people's faces.  Sounded like a good way to get bit.

But if he could hunt something and bring that back on his own without encouragement, maybe that'd prove he was able to do things too? Maybe?  He didn't know, but he hoped.  If not, maybe he could find something cool to bring back to add to his own collection of knick-knacks.  He'd had a few ideas, you see, and so far he hadn't been proven wrong, but he wasn't about to go spreading his grand scheme around until he had more evidence.  But he'd totally collect more parts.  Right now, though, he kept his ears on a swivel and a wary eye on the volcano in the distance as he tried to pick up where he'd lost the trail within sight of the river's edge.
