Autumn was a fair time of year. The weather seemed to vary between bustling thunderstorms and warm days – like an Indian summer was intended to be. That particular year, it seemed as though the warm, dry days were few and far between. More often than not, the skies were littered with heavy clouds, ripe with rain. Thunder rolled across the sky with a graceless boom that seemed to shake the very foundation of the earth. Kierkegaard was used to the change in climate. He had spent a good deal of his life in a number of strange places. While he had primarily kept to travel in the north, his nomadic wandering had taken him many other places with his sister as well.
Kierkegaard had traversed across a great deal of the land in the short while that he had been there. Moz was not far behind, he knew as much… she could never be far from him at any given time.
The meadow was not an ideal place for the ashen creature. He would prowl forward a good ten yards or more before he was forced to pause and lift his head upwards. His purpose for trekking through the terrain was to reach the opposite end. He could spot the stretch of trees that seemed to cast shade in startling contrast to the meadow’s bright floral setting.
Picking up his pace, Kierkegaard kicked his hind legs and cantered forward, loping through the tall grass with – at least – some improvement on his travel time. There was a loud snort from roughly twenty yards away, bringing the ashen wolf to a slow trot and then stopping him in his tracks entirely. His bright gaze settled on a hulking brown figure that lurked in the distance, just before the cottonwoods that were to have been his refuge. The grizzly bear seemed not to have noticed Kierke’s presence… at least not yet, but it seemed to be lumbering towards the ashen wolf. Snorting, he lowered his head and attempted to circle around the large beast. His bright orange-gold gaze was settled on her figure the entire time, waiting for the moment when she caught his scent.

The honeyed wolf woke violently, disturbed by a loud crackle of thunder in the atmosphere. The air was humid, and Falwasi wondered when the drastic temperature plummet was going to happen. As she blinked her copper eyes open, nose twitching, she picked up a scent that did not belong to a Creek wolf, nor to any other wolf pack in Teekon Wilds as far as she was concerned. The last time she encountered a lone wolf... well, it had been an interesting conversation. Unsure of whether Swiftcurrent Creek disapproved of lone wolves lingering in their territory, she decided to go and see why the wolf was in her pack's lands.

She followed the scent towards Wapun Meadow, the exact place where her encounter with Shadow had taken place. 'Maybe it's him again.' she thought, grimacing as she imagined the brute's smirk. As she loped through the tall grass in the dry thunderstorm, she caught a glimpse of a pale wolf cantering across the meadow. Falwasi increased her pace, tearing up the ground to catch up with the wolf who seemed to be running away from her.

Her ears shot up as a loud snort erupted from ahead of Falwasi, which meant it had come from in front of the stranger. It wasn't a wolf-like sound, and as the wolf that she now made out to be a ragged pale ash and charcoal creature came to a trot and then to a halt, she saw the burly brown creature walking towards the scraggly wolf. Fal was sure the bear hadn't sensed the wolves' scent, yet it seemed to hulk towards the male unknowingly. Falwasi gradually stopped and stood still behind the tall wolf, waiting to see what would happen next. She lowered herself swiftly to the ground, hairs lifting off her back and her eyes fixed on the bear. The less visible she made herself, the better it would be for both of their sakes.

woops posted after Fal xD I will add her into this post-

The rustle of pine needles across the hard-packed dirt, echoed by the soft chirp of a sparrow, or a sparse hoot of a mourning dove. Small droplets of rain fell here and there through the tree branches, dripping down as if they were crystals grown on the pinecones. Sometimes they would fall into his pelt, sharp little pricks upon his skin, and other times they would roll languorously down fallen branches on the ground.

It was a comfortable stroll, sides the droplets, that made Dovev seem a bit relaxed. He had finally come down from his exploration of the high terrain and now was perusing the forests that line Swiftcurrent's southern border. He would be able to smell the markings soon, and would be enveloped back into the familiar aroma. He had taken a liking to the pack, with its quiet but strong presence in the land. The pack was the mother of three other groups that surrounded the creek like a satellite, even if they weren't always welcome. Dovev could only ponder if the creek would remain the preeminent pack in the northeastern park of the park, or perhaps with the silent cape that had fallen into the territory, they were on the descent.

A clearing had come into view up ahead, and usually the white wolf would've crossed it in a nonchalant manner, keeping up his leisurely pace. But smells had reached his muzzle before he had come to the break in the trees, and he halted. With gunmetal eyes, he spotted a silver-ivory canine standing in front of him, and Dovev's hairs began to bristle. Something past this stranger had caught his attentions, and the arctic male stalked forward, slowly, his head low but his ears quivering. Another creature had appeared, a packmate, and the white wolf circled to her side. A hulking bear had taken up space in the clearing, and although she was facing away, bears were not taken lightly.

You gonna let her go? he rumbled quietly to the stranger, stepping into the clearing with a solid but careful pace. He had no reason to be rude or sharp to this ash male, as they were on neutral ground. Besides, Dovev wanted to be sure that this grizzly wouldn't make a beeline onto creek territory.

Thanks for hopping in, you two!

It wasn’t long before not one, but two other wolves seemed to appear from meadow behind him. Keeping his gaze trained on the lumbering figure ahead of them, Kierkegaard anticipated that he would have to pay these others no mind at all. The thought of an aggravated bear was enough; he assumed that they would react to the potential danger with caution.
Both of the pack wolves moved to position themselves behind the ashen male. He turned his head just slightly so that he could judge their location in comparison with his own before focusing back on the prowling predator at his front. The creature was moving slowly, with a sort of clumsy power behind her limbs, and still had yet to pick up the scent of the three wolves in the meadow. Kierkegaard knew that it was a matter of time before the aroma became too overwhelming, or one of the wolves behind him opened their mouths. The female seemed to remain silent, hunkering herself down to keep out of sight. The silver male who had appeared, however, seemed to think it was a pleasant time for a conversation. You gonna let her go?
Kierkegaard turned his head to face the newcomer with a look of – almost – disbelief. His eyes flashed towards the stranger and he drew his lip over his canines, baring his fangs. Surely this strange male could not have meant the bear. If he did, then Kierke could anticipate that the silver-colored pack wolf was not only foolish, but borderline idiotic.
“I have no quarrel with the bear,” Kierkegaard snapped at him, his voice echoing in his chest with a resonating baritone. His patience was wearing thin. He had very little to begin with. Kierke’s gaze darted towards the female and paused. The longer she remained silent, the higher her chances were of avoiding the lumbering predator at their front.

Falwasi remained lowered to the ground, golden eyes fixated on the wolf and the bear as she smelled Dovev coming. Her insides screamed to warn the ivory male of what he would be running into if he followed the two wolves' scent. The lithe wolf steeled herself and prayed Dovev had a sudden nasal failure and wouldn't smell them. This would be the absolute worst time for a chat, considering a bulky female bear was towering above her and this stranger, unaware of it.

She bit the inside of her lip as his scent became stronger, and soon she could hear the sound of his soft footsteps, followed by his large figure carefully positioning himself beside her. Falwasi glanced at him with her peripheral vision, willing him to stay quie- 'You gonna let her go? he mumbled. The she-wolf winced, her eyes burning into the bear waiting for it to realise that there were three wolves standing before her.

The unknown wolf turned to look back at Dovev, lip curled back, clearly annoyed. 'I have no quarrel with the bear.' he said with little patience. Falwasi held back the urge to growl. How dare he stride into their territory, walk in front of a bear and snap at her pack mate, making the situation even more vulnerable than it was before? Who did he think he was? She bared her teeth, fighting herself to stay quiet, to keep herself from engaging in hostilities.

It was too late to turn away from the bear, she was too close to not realise the wolves walk away, and the sudden movement would startle her. Their only option was to wait the bear out, distract her while one of the wolves turned from her or to attack her if she made the first move.

With the brush of fur, he glanced sideways at the beige and ashen speckled female known as Falwasi, and followed her gaze with flickering ears. It seemed that as he had arrived, his focus had been more on the wolves and less on the bear, who had lumbered closer. He couldn't help but notice they had made no movement to warn the bear, something Dovev would have done in the first place. It was much too close to the creek borders, and the white male would have preferred to move it off before it caused some trouble on pack lands. And he was appreciative that he had a packmate on his side- the loner should be a little more in debt, for he was no longer in the company in the bear alone.
As much as Dovev would have moved to rebuke the stranger's snarky response, he was less concerned about that and a little more focused on what the bear posed to his pack.

With a soft rumble in his throat, the arctic beast turned his head to stare solidly at the other male, his hackles beginning to prickle. I'm sorry. Did you want to be left alone with the bear? he replied in a quiet yet cynical tone, eying the stranger before returning his sights on the lumbering brown mass. For if the female grizzly turn around and address her new entourage, she would be met with three adult wolves. There was no food nearby or cubs for her to defend; Dovev saw little chance for the bear to challenge them, and instead continue her journey in a different direction.

Kierkegaard was not very popular between these two pack wolves… then again, he wasn’t a popular man among many others either. He was solitary. He had lived most of his life in the company of only one other, and even she was close to being as reclusive and wild as he was. These two prattling wolves knew very little of the real world, but then again Kierke was as biased as they came. He thought less and less of pack wolves every day, and his only admiration for them was in the idea that they were stronger when surrounded by each other. That was his only downfall in this situation. Not only was there a looming grizzly bear to their front, but if he were to engage the silver-furred male, the honey colored she-wolf would surely come to his aid.
The female had remained silent, but as soon as Kierkegaard had let his words fall from his lips, she had turned to him with bared fangs and an angered expression. He drew his golden gaze down to her and a low growl was emitted from his throat. They were on neutral ground; she had no power over him there. If she wanted to fight, Kierke was confident that his brute strength would carry him much further than she anticipated. Flattening his ears, he lowered his head just slightly, threateningly.
“I’m sorry. Did you want to be left alone with the bear?”
Tossing his head back in the direction of the silver male, Kierke peeled his lips backwards and snarled in response. Surely, if he had been left alone with the bear, he would have had a higher chance of making it out without aggravating her. Now that he was knee-deep in the idiocy of pack wolves, he was certain that – one way or another – he was going to be forced to fight. He would not stand to be spoken to by this pretentious pack wolf and his female companion. Kierkegaard did not have the patience for it.

If your wolf wants to fight, we should make a sparring thread!

Everything in her body instructed Falwasi to launch herself at the lanky wolf who had just stared menacingly into her eyes, flattening his ears. Even facing a bear and two pack wolves, he dared challenge Dovev and herself. If she weren't presently in the situation, she would've maybe regarded the wolf as brave. But right now she thought of him as an utter idiot. The lean muscled wolf mused through the possibilities of actions she could take, her eyes slitted. It was hard enough to stay cool, and she wouldn't for much longer if the loner continued wearing down her small amount of patience. She would wait prepared for the feral to make the first move; he was lucky he was getting a chance to revoke his challenge.

Her heart beat rapidly as her body coiled onto her hind legs, snarling so quietly it was inaudible. Her vision glazed over with the fury that had yet to be erupted - smoke should have been blowing out of her nostrils were it not for the thin extent of control she had left. Everything she was feeling was concealed in her eyes, and all that her body showed was a tense but serene front. 'Dovev,' she said, drawing in a deep breath to calm herself, the wind aiding in her attempt. One eyebrow raised as she looked upon the loner with a hard expression, 'Please distract the bear while I take care of this piece of shit.' she requested through barred teeth. The intelligent blanched male would most likely try to help her relax, but she was in no mood to listen to anyone. Her attention was purely on the wolf that was the color of the remnants of a volcano.

The sooty gray male was full of surprises. This stranger had given up heeding the looming threat of the bear in which he had been so concerned about, and instead of taking the assistance of the Creek wolves, had thrown it away. Dovev had lapsed back into a cold exterior, tail waving leisurely from side to side. It was enough to know that this lone wolf was at fault, and the arctic brute had faded into a serenely cold expression upon his face. Had this creature been inside any pack, Dovev would've responded to the blatant challenge with a lunge, aiming to bowl the cocky loner onto his back. But his packmate had already taken the bait, and controlled the situation. He would assist her with anything, including the fight, as it was no rank challenge. But the earthy-hued female directed him take care of the bear. That he would do.

Leaving Falwasi's side, the alabaster warrior trotted around the stranger, feeling strands of grass pushed away by his legs. By then, a growl was strumming from his mouth. Dovev took up a position farther along the treeline, in sight of the bear. He would try to coax the bear farther into the forest using a snap-and-dash technique, hoping to push her into a run. It was a risky move by himself, and he relied on the knowledge that the bear was merely investigating and had little to stand up and fight for.

It was incautious of the female wolf to attempt to send her pack-mate after the bear instead of soliciting the white male’s assistance. Kierkegaard regarded her with a quick smirk and a cold flash in his fiery gaze at the sound of her impatience. Evidently, he had struck a nerve with the pack wolf as well. His eyes followed the retreat of the silver male before they snapped back to attention on the agouti-pattern woman. Fixing his eyes on her own, his lip drew wayward and he snapped his jaws in her direction, growling threateningly at her. She would not be given the chance to simply act on her pretentious attempt to ’take care’ of him. The ashen male had not been softened by the life of a pack; he had lived every day of his past three years of life in the wilderness. This stranger would know what it meant to feel his savage force.
Darting forward without warning, Kierkegaard opened his jaws and aimed a vicious bite at her face. His legs were long enough to have closed the distance between the two of them, but if she was quick on her feet, it would be avoidable. The loner may not have had a quarrel with the bear, but this honey-colored stranger was a different story entirely.
Already, by sending her fellow pack-mate into the fray with a female grizzly bear, the she-wolf had put herself at a disadvantage. She had lost a crucial key to subduing Kierkegaard's anger, and if something managed to go wrong and the bear darted for their pack territory, she would be even more foolish to continue the spar with Kierke rather than help to save her companions.

Emptiness took over the left side of Falwasi's body where Dovev had been standing as he trotted away to face the bear, probably going to lure it into the cottonwoods. She took one last look at him, hoping he would stay safe and the bear wouldn't lose her temper because she knew she had been negligent to his well-being by asking him to deal with the creature. She was now grateful that he was there; as much as she wouldn't want to admit it, fighting off a lone wolf at the same time as keeping a cautious eye over the bear would be rather difficult.

Thunder still rumbled over their heads - no rain, but boisterous, crackling thunder. The muscular wolf sat back into her hind legs, ready for the rangy wolf to attack. She had been in a similar situation weeks ago with Scimitar, except then she did not want to fight. Today, her every intention was to draw blood. She looked at him with dangerous eyes, meaning business. He clearly took her lithe physique to his advantage, but he knew not about her velocity and skill beneath.

Without warning, the loner rushed forwards with legs outstretched and mouth open, the fangs showing most definitely aimed at her face. He was fast, closing the distance between them at an alarming rate, but not as rapid as Falwasi. The long limbed wolf turned so that her rear end faced the wolf, and at the last moment she kicked her hindquarters back, aiming a painful blow to his pasty face or boxy chest, hopefully somewhere in between. If her legs were to make contact with his body, his teeth would probably nick her feet, but at least the impact would send him backwards.

dovev is kicking himself in the foot right now xD

As the white wolf scampered backwards, lunging around occasionally to snap at the air near the bear's flank, thunder rolled ominously in the dark sky. He felt a whoosh of air near his back as the large wolf narrowly ducked under a swipe of the bear's paw. That was luck. He wouldn't be able to keep this up for very long, considering his size and tactic. There was only hope to rely on that the bear would grow disinterested at the wolfish pest.

Dovev's ears flicked suddenly when his movement had turned him around again, facing his packmate and her aggressor. His hair stood on end; watching as the wolves leapt at each other. The male was angry with himself for leaving Falwasi- he should've Momentarily distracted, the bear had pivoted towards him. With open jaws of rage and anger at the pesky wolf, the bear had lunged with one large hand. Ragged gray claws sliced down Dovev's back right flank, leaving a trail of bright red welts. With a yelp, the male danced backward, already favoring his other leg as he retreated back into the field and closer to the fighting wolves. By then, the bear had deemed her opponent disarmed and lumbered off. He could only hope the creature would stray far away, but for now his mind was overtaken with pain and the fact that Falwasi was under fire.

His attack was met with the female turning so that she faced in the opposite direction. Kierkegaard was savage; his jaws snapped viciously in an attempt to connect with her, and when he noticed her feet aimed for his face, he attempted to reel away but was not quick enough. Feeling her hind legs connect, he turned his head to the side so that he would not take as much force from them. Still, it rattled his jaw, and he threw his head back in the direction of her feet in hopes that he would at least score his teeth against them. The champ of his jaw was quick, though slightly un-aimed. He was only hoping to draw blood in his attempt.
Taking a few steps backwards, the ashen loner shook his head. Lowering his neck towards the earth to protect himself, he snarled at the female with jagged and yellow canines. Flicking his tongue across his teeth, he took a step towards her once more. The kick to his face had hurt, but he was still larger than her. His adrenaline would carry him for minutes longer before he would see the need to depart the territory. Kierkegaard was certain that the alabaster wolf who had run after the bear would not be gone long… unless he was killed.
Darting towards her again, he aimed to leap at her. His intentions were to knock the female over. At any rate, Kierkegaard had thrown his entire weight into his attack. If he should miss her, or if she were to dodge him again… he would have enough force in his action to put distance between them. And his lengthy legs could close distance quite well.

Her legs had been grazed by the wolf's teeth, as Falwasi had expected. Few scratches traced along her hocks. Pleased that her kick had been effective, she glanced worriedly towards Dovev, who she'd just heard yelp. Traces of thick blood were apparent on his snow white flank as he careened backwards. The bear had wandered off after her final swipe of disruption, and Falwasi turned her head back to face the lone wolf. Dovev would be better off with Falwasi in one piece, after all.

Had she been paying attention, she would have detected the wolf's step forward, preparing to leap. As she reverted her attention to him, she had hoped her blow would have gained her a few seconds. It did, but not enough. The ragged wolf leapt at her, knocking her off her light feet. With a grunt, she fell to the ground, stomach facing the sky. She was a quick thinker, though. She already had a plan; should the male step closer to her, her muscular legs would kick up, in hope to cause a painful kick to his underbelly.

Whatever should happen, she would fight to the death.

can change if fight is just between you two

Exposed to the open air, blood was rushing freely down Dovev's back thigh, leaving streaks of bright red against a snowy canvas. He staggered a bit in the damp grass, rain beginning to pelt against his ruffled spine. Dovev had seen polar bears duke it out in the north, but never once had the arctic male strayed far enough to engage them. They were larger than this female grizzly, but he knew now that all bears packed a solid punch. He snarled under his breath, retaining his stance but feeling the searing pain as he steadied his back leg.

Looking over at the pair, the tundra beast cursed himself under his breath. The ashen stranger had lunged at Falwasi, who was knocked backwards and ended up on her back, kicking out with her hind legs. It was not a good position, and at once the Creek wolf pushed himself into a lope, narrowed eyes stinging at the wounds on his legs. It was as if the bear was striking him over and over in that same area, but he needed to get the attacker away from his packmate's prone body. With a lunge, he would aim to snap his jaws onto the silver male's back hock, sinking in deep as the rest of his body half-slid into Kierke's, losing balance from his wounded hip.

No worries, actually! I’m pulling Kierke out now. :) It was a fun thread, guys. You both can reply once more to close it out?

The attempt to bowl the female over had been a success, up to a certain point. He could see that she was in a compromised position, but Kierkegaard was not intent on killing her. He had acted brashly in the past and had cost his sister and himself a home. He did not want to make the same mistake twice. The ashen brute could not afford to make the same mistake twice. Once she was on the ground, he debated for a single moment as to whether or not he would continue his attack. Though the savage parts of him wanted to try to tear her to shreds, he only huffed heavily, his eyes locked with hers. Shaking his shaggy ash-colored skull, he did not notice the alabaster male had returned and was aiming an attack for his hock. He was too focused on making sure that the female knew their fight was done… that he would not attack her further.
Pain ripped through the back of Kierkegaard’s leg and he lifted his head, snarling in reaction. Instinct was to turn and fight whatever was attacking him, but he would not give the opportunity to the female so that she could rise and attack him. With as quick a movement as he could muster, the ashen loner swung his head around to where his leg was being latched onto, and snapped his jaws in the direction of the white male. If anything, he hoped that the bear had caused enough damage to the stranger so that Kierke could get one last hit. His face was wild, feral… he looked like he was out for blood.
After moving to unlatch the white wolf from his hock, Kierkegaard moved to pull away, feeling his leg sting with sharp pain. His adrenaline was capable of carrying him away from the scuffle. Jumping over the female and landing with an unsteady thud, the Sairensu male darted his gaze back towards the white male with a ghastly expression on his savage face and snapped his jowls at him threateningly. With his final word, Kierke took to the trees on the other side and disappeared from sight.

Sounds good! Thanks for the thread :)

Falwasi stood up expeditiously when the male didn't use her vulnerable position to his advantage. Instead, he puffed his breath and matched his golden eyes to her own. Confusion was led to her brain, ambiguous on her face. She elevated herself, almost to the height of the loner, and returned his stare with a low growl. The longer he stood there, the more she uncovered. He was done fighting.

Suddenly, the creature lifted his head with a snarl, causing Falwasi's hairs on her back to stand even more, a snarl erupting from her. Now she was very confused. It wasn't until she spotted Dovev who had just taken a gnaw from the stranger's hock that she muted her snarl, and instead replaced it with a deadly expression.

The loner unhooked Dovev from his leg, and dashed off towards the trees that seemed to be his goal in the first place. There was a limp as he ran, thanks to Dovev, and it was now clear-cut to him to leave. With a final word, the wolf looked back at her alabaster friend, snapping his jowls viciously. Were it not for the anger ebbing away, Falwasi would have grinned at Dovev, at his final victorious action that said: Leave. Instead, Falwasi turned her head to him as the lone wolf disappeared for good. 'We should find Scimitar.' she said.

awesome! last post from me ^^

A radical change had swept over Dovev's face as he felt his teeth latch securely into his target's flank. He felt the whoosh of the male's mouth snapping near his face, but Dovev let out no sound. With eyes like chips of ice, the male's jaws were ripped as his opponent pulled away, bounding towards the surrounding forest. The ashen creature had turned around to snarl, and Dovev responded with a deadpan growl, his ears flat against the crown of his skull. He could hardly move, as his lunge had lit pain upon his back leg, but the tundra beast remained securely planted next to Falwasi as the creature retreated into the forest opposite of the Creek borders. It was a good move, for Dovev would have been more than willing to muscle through his bear wound and fight alongside Falwasi.

With narrowed orbs, Dovev watched as the loner ungainly leapt over the female's body and skirted off, disappearing into the wood. He glanced to his left and looked at the tawdry fighter. She looked bruised and shaken up, but there was no immediate demand for medical aid. Dovev could only hope his leg could hold up on the walk back to the pack. With an unsteady shake of his fur, he nodded silently and pivoted to limp back off towards the Creek.
