Starglow Basin western sky

the air was crisp near the basin's edge, a faint chill brushing against saya’s fine fur as she moved with purpose. the outer rim stretched vast and open, a space she had grown familiar with during her restless wanderings. her golden gaze caught a glimmer of white against the earthy backdrop—a wolf, striking and pale, her silhouette framed by the distant peaks.

a smile flickered at the corners of saya’s mouth as she quickened her pace into a smooth trot. she moved gracefully, her slim frame weaving effortlessly through the uneven terrain. when she drew closer, she lifted her head in a gesture of greeting, her sharp gaze lingering on the woman’s snowy form.

leto, she called out, her tone light but curious. where have you been?

Saya! She responded in greeting, bumping her head to the woman's shoulder. Out and about, nowhere too important. She had difficulty staying still, was all.

Glancing at the area behind Saya, she found that they were alone. You've decided to go on a walk? She asked.

It had been some time since Leto had the pleasure of a proper conversation with a woman.

saya chuckled, a low sound as she leaned into leto’s familiar touch, her gaze flickering to the horizon before returning to the woman beside her.

needed some air, she admitted, voice smooth but laced with a certain mischievousness. brought home a prize for soto—a witch. don't know what he wnated with her, but keeps him busy, no?

her eyes gleamed with faint amusement before softening as she tilted her head. and you, leto? wandering as always, or were you tasked?

As Saya spoke, Leto wondered why they had not been given similar tasks. Maybe their values simply lay in different places, and Leto was not one to complain.

However, it was not something she wished to share either. Not with anyone. Nothing just yet. I took quite the trip a month back to distribute some of Soto's green. Maybe he's waiting to use me for that again. The trip of course, had been taken on her own accord.

I can't complain really, it's nice to have the chance to be lazy again.

saya's lips curled slightly, a half-smirk tugging at the corner of her mouth as she listened to leto. lazy, huh? her tone carried a faint teasing lilt, though her sharp eyes lingered on her friend with a flicker of something more calculating.

can't imagine soto letting anyone stay lazy for long. not his... style. she tilted her head, letting the words hang in the air for a moment before continuing, her gaze sliding to the horizon. we can be lazy together.

she paused, considering leto's mention of distributing soto's green. a trip like that sounds... eventful, saya added, her voice light but edged with curiosity. never boring here.

She smiled, giving her a playful nudge. Maybe I've been spoiled then, hm? She only hoped it wouldn't come off the wrong way. I do wish for some more excitement though, sometimes.

The trip isn't as exciting as it sounds really, I'm used to travel by now though. She frowned, staring off for a moment before looking back to Saya. Have you travelled often?

She realized that she had never asked her friend such questions before. They were yet to discuss previous homes or their families.

saya tilted her head slightly, a soft chuckle escaping her lips. not much, no, she admitted, her voice calm, carrying the weight of something unsaid. i was rather sheltered, kept close to home. they liked to keep me... safe, i suppose. her brow arched, a faint smirk playing on her face as if she found the idea both amusing and stifling.

what about you? she asked, shifting the focus back to leto. you’ve seen more of the world than i have, it seems. what’s the most exciting place you’ve been to? her gaze softened, genuine curiosity lacing her tone as she nudged leto back, inviting her to share.
