Pack Activity
@Grimnir @Ohen @Lusa @Twist @Cicero @Damien @Kelorth (Not @Burke sorry) This hunt is to introduce hunting to the pups and as the first pack hunt of the season. The target is a small herd of the white deer native to Blackfeather Woods. The first round will end next week April 21st. (Slight PP on the pups)

The gradual warmth of the earth made it commonplace for mist to drift into Blackfeather at dawn. It created a gloomy, frightening atmosphere, and she liked it. This morning was perfect for hunting. The mist would hide the wolves as they stalked their prey and muffle their sound. As she stuck her head out of her den, observing the conditions, the priestess made the decision; this morning would be spent hunting. She turned back, stirring her children and murmuring in their ears: today would be their first hunt. Confident that the news would awake them, Meldresi strode out of her den.

The Night Queen stood in the clearing outside of her home, waiting for her pups to arrive. When they had finally dragged themselves out of bed, the alpha threw back her head and howled, calling for her pack to gather to her den. They would meet here, and track their prey from here. The pups would follow close by, closely watched by their mother as their older packmates took down the deer. But it would be a valuable lesson for the three of them.

Ohen wasn't very far from where Meldresi was and the second he heard her howl, the dark male sprinted to the scene. When he arrived to where Meldresi stood, he found both his Alpha and the pups he saw at the last gathering. Ohen smiled at the youngsters and then looked to Meldresi and gave a bow to show respect. "Hello" he said and looked around to see that he was the first wolf here.

Ohen hoped others would show up, as it seemed many wolves were leaving Blackfeather. Ohen could smell his brother's scent still in the area, but it was faint. Did yet another sibling of his run off? The ebony male sat down and waited to see if any other pack-mates would show up.

As the howl cut off in the misty air, Lusa was quick to get up. Paws carried her effortlessly through the woods, trailing down the Alpha's howl. When she reached her destination, she spotted two pups, one Cicero and the other a stranger, and Ohen. Of coarse she wasn't very pleased to see the dark male, but hey, it was a group hunt right? And besides, they needed all the help they could get. Wolves had come and gone and now there was only half the warriors they used to have. Bruke was also unseen for days now, and the dark star started to worry about the gray male. But hopefully he would attend, though she doubted those hopes.

"Hello Meldresi. Hello Ohen." She nodded her head in greeting towards the youngsters. "What's our target?"

When he was awakened by his mother, it did not take long for Cicero to come into full awake mode and awareness; today was going to be his first hunt! The child yipped excitedly and exited the den swiftly, regardless of how fast or slow his siblings would be, and followed his mother. When the children had all gathered she called for the rest of the pack, and Cicero waited patiently for them to arrive.

"Hi-hi wolves," Cicero greeted Ohen and Lusa as they arrived, and then the duo-toned pup waited for the rest of the pack to arrive, bursting with excitement.

Kelorth had been exploring the land beyond Blackfeather Woods for sometime now but had returned that day and was lucky to have heard Meldresi's howl. He was quite a distance away though, so it took him sometime to reach the scene and it did not surprise him that he was not the first to arrive. The white furred Dragonblood's blue eyes found his younger brother, Lusa, Meldresi and her pups there. "Hey," Kelorth greeted the small gathering of wolves, bowing to Meldresi and smiling briefly at Ohen and Lusa.

He then moved forward, sitting down next to Ohen and grinning at him. "Miss me much, brother of mine?" he asked teasingly.

Because I am stubborn. >D

Burke was laying in the infirmary when he heard the howl. Instantly his ears fell back and a grumpiness settled over him. How unfair he wanted to join this hunt. He could totally join! A puff came from he male as he tried to get his paws under his body and stand upright. It took him a good minute to push himself in a sitting position. His ears flattened more against his skull as he pathetically bared his teeth to the walls of the infirmary. He wasn't a quitter! The male pushed his ass up, his docked tail raising proudly as he did before. Although soon a cramp moved through his inner organs which made him plop his butt back against his bed of moss.

He lowered himself and drank for the conveniently small stream that moved past his bed. No wonder this was the infirmary. Burke hated feeling useless. They better bring him some of the meat they would catch. He trusted his pack to care for him now instead of him caring for them by filling up the caches. He missed the social content and giving advise. Until now it was only Meldresi that had been in the infirmary. He needed his rest. Hopefully soon he was allowed to move out of the cave system into a warm comfy den. Burke howled from the spot he was laying. His good-luck howl echoing through the tunnels throughout Black Feather Grounds.

@Lusa  Since we are about to complete our current thread, I thought this was appropriate. But let me know if you would like me to change anything.

Meldresi's call echoes throughout the woods. Grim pulls his lips back in a snarl. What was it this time? Another ridiculous meeting to tell stories? As much as he wants to ignore the call, his growing loyalties pulls him towards the Alpha. He is also curious as to what they may be doing. Perhaps Meldresi is going to make up for the last meeting by having them torture some wolf that intruded onto their lands. When he has first joined, there had been a captive hidden deep within the underground tunnels. He had missed his chance with that one, but perhaps that was best. At the time he had been more blood thirsty than he is now.

With the thoughts of torture on his mind, the blood dusted wolf eagerly makes his way to the Alpha. Upon entering the clearing he spots a white wolf that he hadn't seen before. Instantly hackles raise and a growl vibrates in his chest. So not only did they have a white pup, they also have a white adult male. Bane jumps to the forefront of his mind. The scent on this male differed from that snowy annoyance. Beside the male was the wolf he had ran into the last time. The white stranger was speaking to Ohen with a grin on his muzzle.

Passing over Meldresi's ,and her pups, known presence, golden eyes settle on another black female. His tail raises slightly at her. The scratches healing on his face from her claws itch slightly, but he pushes the feeling away. He still wonders if the wound will leave a scar and hopes that it does. It will be Lusa's mark on him and he would wear it with pride. Grim struts towards Lusa with his head held high, making it a point to sit as close to her as physically possible. He leans into her, enjoying the warm feel of her body. Sharp eyes dart around the other wolves, daring them to step close to his female. A lip lifts in a warning to all of them. He will shred any of them that try to step near Lusa. In the back of his mind he still wonders what Meldresi's call is for, but his attention is focused on his little killer and the males around the clearing.

The moment her mother urged them up, Potema's eyes shot open. A hunt! Their first hunt! She jumped upwards and chased after her brother Cicero, who leapt up just as quickly. The princess sat by her mother, waiting for the rest of the wolves to arrive. Quite a few came, most she recognized. A black male, who was there during the storytime, and the black female. A white man, who looked eerily like the black one came forth and spoke to the two other adults. Potema stared at this one for a while; he had not been there during the last pack gathering. Was he a new wolf?

But the princess froze when the tan wolf came. Defiant and angry as always, he strode by the black female and situated himself there, snarling at the other males. Potema frowned at him, though his eyes were not focused on her at all. She had a strange hatred for the man, despite his one slight towards her. Any wolf who defied her in such a way had to be hated, for who would do that to the Night Queen's daughter?

The newly accepted Blackfeather Woods member pricked his ears as the howl rang through the air, summoning the members of the Woods for a group hunt. The black prince rose gracefully onto his paws and made his way towards the call, when he arrived, there were many already there. The Borealem Gloom had been on the far opposite of the call when it rang out and it had taken him sometime to cross the Woods to reach the place where they were summoned.

He slipped out from behind a tree trunk like a melting shadow, and after dipping his head politely to the night queen, he stepped backwards, melting back into the darkness of the woods, only his pale white eyes stood out. Kenneth made sure to be within hearing distance, he did not want to miss the orders of his Alpha and become a complete fool. No, he needed to make a good impression.

First round done! There is no posting order. The next round will end 4/28 @Cicero @Lusa @Kenneth @Grimnir @Damien @Ohen @Kelorth

Her wolves responded promptly to her call, despite the early hour. Ohen, his brother Kelorth, and Lusa were first, and gathered in a knot by each other. Soon Grimnir entered the scene, fierce and demanding as always as he pushed his way besides Lusa. The priestess cocked an eyebrow at how close the tan-furred monster was to the black female; it was much closer than she had seen Grimnir to any wolf in the pack, let alone a female.

After the old faces came one of the new: Kenneth he was called. He was distant from the rest of the pack, but his promptness pleased her. They would need all of the adults they could get for this hunt.

In the distance, Meldresi heard Burke's howl emanating from the tunnels, as a final word of farewell and good luck. At least he was recovering quickly that he could manage the strength to call to them. "Today is my children's first hunt. While they will not be actively participating, the three of them will be following us as we hunt." She said as her opening words. "Our target will be a small herd of five white deer, two mothers and three young fawns. The last I saw of them was in the northwest in a small clearing. They were there last afternoon, and should not have travelled far." The does had already birthed and were gathered in small niches of two or three mothers as they raised their young. The tiny "nursery" she saw was home to two older females, perhaps raising their last fawns, which would not give much of a fight in the chase.

"If they are still in the clearing, we can easily surround them and take down one of the mothers, and a few fawns if we are lucky. While this is not a very large hunt, there are no special tasks being assigned to anyone. However," Her eyes roamed around the gathered wolves. "I want to lead the hunt but I cannot leave my children without supervision. Before we depart, I would urge one of you to volunteer to watch over my pups as we track and take down the prey, making sure they are in full view, but at a safe distance." She ruled out Grimnir immediately, but wondered who else would step up to the job.

Cicero watched silently as others gathered. The others all seemed very preoccupied with one another, leaving little time for Cicero, but he did not mind. He watched them as they went about their business, intrigued by the various relations that he noticed between them. Cicero watched silently, and when his mother began to speak, he gave his attention to her. He listened to what she had to say, though most of it did not impact him much -- all he knew was he needed to watch.

Shit! I'm late again! D:

indentLate. That was the only thing he did. Getting late to places. But who cared when you're the Alpha's son, right? That was one of the thoughts that had developed and rooted in the night child's mind ever since he was old enough to understand the meaning of being Alpha, and that his mother was it. It might not be totally correct to behave in such way, but he didn't care.

indentHe did, indeed, arive late to his first official hunt. He'd been waiting for it to happen for some time now, having heard mom speak about it with Burke. And the fact that he was late was of little interest to the shadow pup. He was there anyways.

indentHe positioned himself close to his brother. Damien knew that CDicero was just as excited as him about the chase, and it was a moment he wanted to share with him. He often mentioned it to him, how exciting it would be to kill a living thing for the first time. He'd done it before, unoficially with Burke in one of his "how to be cool 101" sessions, and he had enjoyed it as he had never anything before.

indentWith a soft, and joke-intentioned push, the night child greeted his brother, and listened to mommy's instructions quietly. Their first hunt was just about to happen. How exciting!

Potema pouted at her brother. Late. As always. He was probably just snoring away, as usual. Really, he was a prince; he should be prompt, not lazy and late like rabble. It was their first hunt, too. "You shouldn't be late." She said softly to her brother, ignoring their playful push. The white princess, dusted slightly with ash, stood close to her mother, a bit farther away from her brothers. She sat there, regal and proud by the queen, where a princess belonged.

It's ok! :3

A small smile spread across her maw as she watched Grimnir strut over to her. She shuffled herself into his fur as he sat close. The girl always seemed to enjoy his company, despite his personality. But that's what she liked most. The way he acted around her. It was strange, but yet comforting.

At first, when Meldresi asked someone to volunteer to watch over her pups, it wasn't something to excite her. The dark star hadn't had a hunt with her new Packmates, so she wanted this opportunity. But the more she thought about, the more she wanted to stay with her pups. First off, she truly did like to see the youngsters. It bought out a protective side of her. Secondly, she didn't really wish for Grimnir to watch over them. The way he snapped at the pale princess, she wasn't to happy about it. Sure, she wouldn't really care if it was someone else, but this was a very young wolf. She still had plenty to learn and plenty to achive, it would pain to see a grown wolf attack her.

"I can watch over the young if you wish Meldresi."

Eyes like daggers watched as a black male stepped into the clearing after Grim had sat down with his female.  The new arrival nodded his head to Meldresi before stepping back to meld into the shadows. Golden eyes narrowed at the strangeness of the new comer, but his attention turned on Meldresi as she spoke. She gave her reasons for them being summoned. Grim scowled. It was a hunt, but mainly to teach the pups. Why should her young have to watch the pack take down some deer? He had learned on his own, so could they. But then the alpha requested supervision for her pups.  Grim's gaze lands on the white pup, a slight grin creeping across his muzzle. Sure, he would love to watch the pups. It would make an 'accident' easier to happen.

Something shuffles into his fur. It is his little killer. She tells Meldresi that she could watch over the pups. Grim looks suspiciously at her from the corner of his eye. Does she have the same motives as him? His gaze turns back to the white pup who had spoken to her brother. No. Lusa had not known Bane. But did she still wish harm upon the young? He won't voice the question among the pack. He will just have to watch her and decide on whether or not she intends to do harm. If she does have some diabolical plan, he could always help her. Well, not could but would help her. There's no way he could just stand by when there could be a chance of him killing off the white whelp.

The ebony prince listened as Meldresi spoke, saying that today would be her children's first hunt but they would be watching instead of participating, he found that a bit strange but did not speak, instead continued to listen to her instructions. Their target would be a herd of white deer, two mothers and three fawns. That should be easy enough, with the number of wolves they had, they should be sure to catch at least one fawn. Meldresi proceeded to announce her strategies for the hunt, saying that if their prey was still in the clearing, they could surround them and take down the deers.

With the tactics spoken, his leader asked for one of them to volunteer to watch over the children, Kenneth would really rather join in the hunt but if no one volunteered, the exiled prince did not mind watching over the children. He was young after all and there were many more hunts to follow this one. Luckily, a black female wolf with blue eyes volunteered, which meant he could participate in the hunt.

Good, he wasn't a good babysitter anyways.

@Lusa @Cicero @Damien @Grimnir @Kenneth @Ohen @Kelorth Next round ends May 5th!

The plan was set, vague and unelaborated as it was. Lusa would watch over her children as they hunted, while Meldresi herself would lead. But she wanted a good look at her surroundings first. "Ohen, go forward to scout the clearing. It is due north from here." The Queen set her gaze towards the direction of the clearing, waiting a few moments after Ohen would disappear into the woods, and then raised her tail, as a signal for them to follow. With that, she broke into a gentle trot, not fast enough to be a run, not yet.

They made good time towards the clearing, at a pace that her children could follow, but the queen slowed gently to a halt when they were a quarter of a mile away. Ohen should be returning by now.

Meldresi turned to her fellow hunting partners, and with that it seemed that Cicero and his siblings were left to Lusa. Cicero did not pay her much attention, keeping an eye on the hunt. His ear twitched as Damien came to the party late and Potema tutted him for it, staying clear from judgement about Damien being late. Cicero looked at Lusa, and as Meldresi came into motion, Cicero silently followed at a distance, assuming that his siblings and Lusa would follow suit, as they were intended to watch, after all.

Potema watched as the black, silver eyed wolf ran forward, scouting out the herd ahead. They sat there and waited for a moment, and then Meldresi gave the signal. The pack surged forward, following his trail. The little princess trotted after her mother, running ahead of the pack. Her tail was high in the sky, mirroring the Night Queen in everything but size and color.

She skidded to a halt in front of her mother when she came to a halt, and looked around at the wolves behind her. She was not paying attention to her supervisor, Lusa, and more interested of what it would be like to run in front of a pack, as a leader. A queen.

The hunt started with Meldresi's orders, and the whole pack went behind Ohen, who was chosen to scout to trail the prey. It was exciting, being so close to the front line, being in the action zone, being a part of the hunt. He just hoped there would be a lot of blood and plenty to eat...

Damien, just like Potema, had big expectations of life, and he was ambitious when it came to rank and worth in the pack, but that was just natural having been born son of the Alpha and leader of the sect of the Dark Brotherhood. Those titles were mighty and powerful, and Damien wanted to get something either similar or better when he came to the right age. So being babysitted wasn't an exciting idea at all.

Lusa was now what he wanted to avoid the most during the hunt. He didn't care to be hurt during the process or messing up. He wanted to be in front with his mother, and just like Potema he ran behind her and copied her every move like a mime.

The pups eagerly rushed to the front of the small hunting group. Grimnir kept an eye on the white one. The hunt was just beginning and already he was bored of it. He kept close to Lusa, his fur brushing up against her's every so often. He would have rather just left the group. An eye turns to his little killer. He doesn't really want to leave her though. A sigh fills his lungs. One paw step after another. This shouldn't take long. It will be an easy kill, and then he can gorge on his favorite food.

A wet drop drips from parted jaws, tongue lolling lazily over sharp teeth. It seems to be getting hotter as the days go by. He can imagine tufts of his winter coat drifting in the breeze. He'll be glad once it's all gone. Still though, it will be hot. He will have to spend his time by the creek to the north of the territory, soaking in the cool water. Grim shakes the thought off. How he would much rather be there right now.

Ohen greeted his brother with a nudge and listened as Lusa volunteered to watch the kids, something he didn't want to do. He remembered how when he was young, and would never listen on hunts. When Meldresi told him to scout ahead Ohen gave a nod and trotted to where the dark alpha said the clearing was. Sure enough just like Meldresi had explained there were two adult does and three young. However they were heading out of the clearing so if they wanted this hunt to be as easy as possible the rest of the group would need to hustle to the clearing.

Ohen lowered himself and once he was out of the deer's eyesight trotted back to Meldresi. "All the deer you mentioned are there, but they are making their way out of the clearing" he whispered beside her, and then went back to walk beside Kelorth. His white brother eaisly stood out in the crowd of dark furred  wolves. Ohen was silent the rest of the way watching the pups walk beside their mother clearly exited about the hunt. A smile spread across Ohen's face as he remembered his first hunt, and how it was the best hunt of his life.

So everything was set. She shall watch over Meldresi's young as the rest hunted. Lusa didn't know how hard it could be. Just some children right? But they were children none the less. A short attention span. Maybe this wouldn't be so easy after all.

The Alpha gave orders for Ohen to scout ahead. Her eyes watched as the male left, then stood up off the ground to follow Meldresi. Her orbs flicked over to the youngsters, watching them with a stern look. Grimnir walked alongside the dark star, fur brushing against hers every so often. As Ohen came back to inform about the prey, she went up closer to the pups looking down at them, "Stay close to me. Don't get in the way of the hunt. And watch closely. Understood?" If they were ever going to listen to her, she needed to be a bit aggressive.

The hunt began and Meldresi ordered Ohen, a black wolf with a snow coated muzzle to scout ahead. Kenneth stayed at the back of the group, his shadowy form shifting in and out of the darkness the woods provided. It was a good home for the exiled prince, his obsidian coat easily hiding him from prey, predators and even the others of his kind. Here, he was not hated, here, his appearance was not loathed but loved. Oh what he would give to see his relatives in Blackfeather Woods, if they were where he was now, it would be they who were taunted instead of him.

Bright eyes of fresh snow focused on the returning form of Ohen and tall, sharp ears listened to the report he gave back to their leader. Apparently, all the deer mentioned were there but were making their way out of the clearing. Kenneth padded closer, his paws not making a sound as they gently crossed over the forest floors, keen eyes focused upon Meldresi, ready to receive his orders.

I'm back, bitches @Kenneth @Grimnir @Ohen @Lusa @Damien @Cicero @Kelorth Next round ends the 19th

Her children did not listen to her orders; typical. Meldresi was flanked by her pups as they walked towards the clearing, though Lusa was on top of her duties and pulled them back the moment Ohen arrived, chastiszing them. They were there to watch, not to hunt. Ohen confirmed her suspicions that the small herd was still in the clearing, but they were getting ready to move. Meldresi formed a plan quickly. "Ohen, Kenneth." She looked towards the black male with the white eyes that were so hauntingly familiar of Bane. "You two are to move as quickly as you can to intercept the deer and then drive them back into the clearing. I suggest you go now." She turned to the remaining wolves. "The rest of us will stay to trap the deer in the clearing, where we will take down as many as we can."

She looked towards her children and Lusa. "Since we are devoid of wolves to make this snare tight, I am going to allow you three to help us trap them, but once they are trapped, you are to pull back with Lusa." With her instructions finalized, she flicked her ears in the direction of the clearing, and headed towards the open space to set her trap. Her "spider's web" if you will.
