This is the first official dance troupe thread. These will be sporadic, so don't be afraid to get your character involved! In this thread, Kindle will teach them a dance and practice it with them. All are welcome!!!
Kindle found his way to the rendezvous and tilted his head back in a summoning howl. He'd spread the word again that there would be practice here tonight, and he hoped that there would be a decent turnout.

While he waited, he stretched his long, pale legs and dappled back. Weak winter sunlight did little to help him, so it was important to get warmed up beforehand himself.

Since their conversation, Europia had found herself curious of Kindle's dancing. It was so far different from her own, but no less appealing.

Catching the howl on the wind, she dropped her scouting to join Kindle on the rendezvous site. She flagged her tail in friendly greeting but said nothing, waiting to see who else would show - if at all.

Pie chewed at the inside of her cheek as she plodded around the borders, contributing her scent to its markers. Patrolling was often such a boring business, so her mind naturally wandered. She thought about her recent conversation with Kira, feeling little prickles going down her spine when she recalled the other woman’s reluctance to touch her. By now, she had drawn several unfavorable conclusions about this.

Kindle’s call pierced right through the black cloud gathering within her, like a warm ray of sunlight. Tiuttuk tilted her head, debating whether she should complete her circuit or postpone the remainder until later. She shrugged, deciding she was neither leader nor mercenary, then swiveled and ran up the mount.

She arrived at the rendezvous site, out of breath from her hasty climb, her muscles ticking like a cooling engine as her yellow eyes found Kindle. She grinned at him, the expression dimming only somewhat as her gaze wandered to the only other attendee thus far, a swarthy woman who must be Europia.

Greetings, she offered breathlessly.

Treepie paused for a moment, appearing to ponder something. She then slunk to Kindle’s side and greeted him with a little peck on the cheek just beneath one of his golden eyes.

Hello, handsome, she chirped quietly into his ear.

It was not a great turnout, really. Kindle was pleased to see Europia, though, and gratified to greet Treepie with a smile and a kiss. So, of course, he nearly floated through the first set he tried to teach —

It was a dance meant to describe the hunting and felling of a whitetail buck, which meant that many of the motions were jagged and aggressive, and not meant to be float-y at all. And, it was one of those dances where each dancer had a different part. Kindle taught them the part of the lead hunter first, and then the second second, and then he played the part of the deer a few times while they practiced the moves together.

Not all dances were taught like this. Some, it was most important to learn all the moves individually before putting them together. But the dance of the buck was what he'd always started younger groups off on, so that they could wrap their head around the feel of dance without being bored right off with the technicalities.

It was a fun exercise — emphasis on the exercise. He often made them practice it even after they'd mastered it, just so that the kids could run out their zoomies before they got to work.

"That's good," he said to them, a little breathless after the last run. "Now who wants to learn to be the buck?"

But he was just as willing to call it a day. It'd been a long while since he'd taught a full lesson, and he was sure he'd be aching in the morning already.
