Burke grinned when he got Vassago. The happy squeal did the father well and it made him laugh too. He really liked playing with his son like this. Vassago came back to him and nipped him. Burke playfully rolled over on his back and moved his front paws to his son to 'beat him up'. He wasn't really doing that of course. He just wanted to hear that little squeal again. Plus as a bonus he might play dead for him to give him a sense of victory.

They went on for a few seconds before Burke rolled onto his back, and while Vass saw another time to strike, the larger male beat him to it. Massive paws lashed out towards him, and with another happy squeal the chestnut boy lunged for the closer one. He snapped his little jaws towards toes, intent on pushing them out of the way so he could inspect Burke's chest and belly-and attack them.

Vassago seemed to be smart, instead of focussing on his paws that reached forward, he went to his chest and belly. Burke let out a dramatic whine when Vassago came close and then rolled over on his side, closing his eyes and playing dead for his son. He wondered how Vassago would react that he 'killed' his father. It was mostly for Burke's entertainment though.
