Blackbeak Bluff love is a naked shadow

maul sleeps soundly most nights
but not tonight
he tosses and turns
and turns
as the waves turn besides him

he can't stop his mind from going back
and tries to shut out
the what ifs and the how comes
how come it hadn't worked
how come it ended like this
how come he wasn't good enough

he wishes he could evict her from his thoughts
she wanders there as carelessly as she did in life
traipsing, treading, trespassing
stealing from him sorrow earned

he thinks good riddance and knows it is a lie

at least the sea was constant
maul gave up sleeping for the night
and drifts down the beach
as a bright silver moon illuminates the shore
and sends his shadow long before him

Mind if we bring this to present time?

It had been harder than he thought to be here--to be faced with the confusing emotions that went with being around his mom again. It seemed impossible to move past the resentment, no matter how much he wanted to. Sometimes, he didn't want to, though; he felt his anger was justified, but it tore at a part of him to be so angry with his own family. So, East had left the territory to find some time to himself. He found he usually preferred it that way anyway. Just west of their own cliffs, the warrior found another similar drop down. He walked along its edge, listening to the sound of the waves rhythmically splashing against the rocks below.  

The cold ocean breezed caressed his face and brought with it the scent of a stranger. He wasn't sure exactly where it had come from, but it seemed to be from somewhere in front of him. He continued to move forward until he found the black and copper male walking the cliffs like had been doing. He wasn't one for strangers, but decided to give a low chuff in greeting anyway. At the very least, he should make sure the male wasn't planning on causing any trouble so close to his new home.
