he was feeling much better these days. the wound, which had caused him such pain and trouble, was well on the mend. every so often, he had nightmares of the shadow-wolves, and woke up trembling— but for the most part, all was okay. he was safe here in neverwinter forest, with mal and markus and the rest.
cam had discovered a small pond to the northern edge of the woods in which a school of fish had made their home. they were sleek and silver, bigger than the minnows from the stream in the willows. he remembered the taste of fish from the sea and found his stomach gurgling as he watched them swim about, darting to and fro in a pretty sort of dance among each other.
they were fast. but he was learning from their movements, learning from their behavior. . .
his right forepaw darted into the water, searching blindly for the nearest writhing body. he was empty-pawed as he flung himself back, nearly tumbling over himself in his excitement. rueful, cam pouted, staring at the rippling surface.
apparently, he had much learning still to do.
