Dawn was approaching, lightening this side of the mountain from ink pitch to a misty dark. Through the fog of morning gloom, a long-legged shade glided along the outskirts of a marked territory. Wary of its occupants, though curious enough to remain investigatory, he moved well away from the borders but kept in plain view as much he could to provoke an encounter (and not be accused of hiding or skulking).
